(3)
A level Chemistry OCR A - 6.1.1 Lesson 3- Nitration and Halogentation of Benzene A lesson explaining the nitration and halogenation reactions of benzene. I would have expected students to have done some home study on this topic before teaching this lesson. Lesson comes with worksheets, exam questions and templates for setting out the mechanism. Enjoy!

The Ozone Layer

The Ozone Layer

(2)
Lesson on what the Ozone layer is, why it's important and what's happening to it. Includes a card sort and worksheets, both of which are found on the slides at the bottom of the ppt. Uploaded as I was realising it's difficult to find a simple lesson on this. I have made this for delivery to a year 9 class so have included some of what happens on a molecular level but not in much depth. Hope it's useful :)

Thermal Decomposition of Limestone

(8)
Lesson I used with a low/middle ability year 10 group about thermal decomposition of limestone and other metal carbonates. Includes a code breaker activity where students had to decode answers around the room! Worked well, and made the topic slightly more exciting :) Has a differentiated worksheet for writing equations for this topic too.

States of Matter

Lesson I used for a mixed ability year 7 class so is full of differentiation. The worksheet is differentiated 3 ways, you just need to cut it into 5 parts. When I talk about 'particle stickers' I just gave the pupils some small circle stickers to use which they enjoyed :) Hope this is useful!
Ethanol

Ethanol

(4)
Lesson on the two methods used to produce ethanol. I got the students to make their own ethanol and I distilled it in a later lesson. Has a nice debate at the end too, as to which method they think would be the best for BP to use if they started using biofuels! Enjoy :)
Transition Metals

Lesson on transition metals for AQA Spec, but can easily be adapted! A bid to make this topic slightly more exciting :) Enjoy!
