A last minute revision resource for 'An Inspector Calls' - sections for pupils to jot down their key quotations, what they know about the main themes and links to characters/specific points in the play with some detail about the narrative structure and questions concerning Priestley's motives and time period. A quick activity designed to take about 30 mins which helps students to get to grips with their knowledge.

A PPT which takes pupils through how to be successful in paper 2, section B for the new AQA GCSE English Language. The PPT comes with practice questions and a transactional toolkit activity where the pupils slot the conventions into the correct writing style to help them to revise.

This resource follows on from the first two weeks of resources. Within this powerpoint which can span from 3-4 lessons, students are tested on their ability to order the events to check for understanding. There is also a detailed worksheet on the visit of Marley which is most effective when blown up to A3 to allow pupils to explore in depth.

Week 2 resource following on from week 1 which takes pupils through the preface, Marley's ghost, new poor law, why Dickens would write a ghost story at Christmas and provides an assessment point to look at the language that Dickens uses to describe Scrooge as per the specimen papers provided by the exam board. Useful to use in accompaniment to the plot summary sheet available.

This longer length powerpoint can span between 1-3 lessons depending on the time you take over it. Goes through Dickens' life and works, includes some links to a clip to test their Dickensian knowledge. Suitable for note taking and for use with any of Dickens' texts for the 19th Century fiction unit.

An introductory powerpoint outlining the context to 'Macbeth'. Suitable to use as an opening to GCSE study of 'Macbeth'.

An exemplar response to the 'Homework has no value' question 5 on the specimen paper 2. A useful resource to take pupils through how the article format should appear and the types of language features that would be expected. Useful to walk and talk through using the mark scheme where pupils can annotate and pull out features.

Powerpoint takes them through the questions using the Jay Rayner specimen paper from the board to allow you to discuss the requirements of each question. It also has information on the writing question 5 for discursive writing and then breaks down the requirements of how to approach a Q5 question.

A literacy based lesson looking at the use of comparative connectives to compare witches in disguise and witches when they are not in disguise by taking information from the book, putting it into a table and then transferring the table into comparative paragraphs using the model.

A newspaper template which pupils can use to create a newspaper article once they have read about the treehouse incident in chapter 4. Suitable for pupils with weaker literacy skills in secondary schools or higher level primary pupils. Also requires them to use knowledge from earlier chapters in the book.

Planned this lesson for use with my GCSE group to look at linguistic and structural features in preparation for AQA GCSE English Language paper 1 questions 2 and 3. The extracts to use are from the openings of 'Room' by Emma Donoghue, 'The Lovely Bones' by Alice Sebold and 'Notes on a Scandal' by Zoe Heller. Differentiated and allows pupils to work for a more extended period of time on their responses. Used for an observation.
