4 Resources
This is a bundle of 4 individual Halloween themed resources. If you liked one of the Halloween themed coding resources and wish to do more, then this may be a better option than purchasing all four separately. I have made these resources to help begin meet the needs of our 21st Century learners. The skills they will need will involve a capability of working in a digital environment. These activities focus on coding. However it can equally be seen as a sequencing activity, a problem solving activity or a positional maths activity. These are introductory activities to using coding. They don’t require the use of a device or access to the internet. Though you may like to show students the actual Scratch Jr app as well. The success of these tasks is best achieved with plenty of prior discussion and modelling. This should include; • Explaining they are trying to give a character a set of instructions, or maybe programming a character to follow a set of instructions. • Discussing the icons The yellow block with the flag is to start the instructions The blue blocks do the action on the block The orange hand block is to stop The red block is to tell you the instructions have finished • Explaining that one block is one action • That the activity is a cut and paste one This resource comes with 4 variations of simple coding. Each of the 4 variations has two activity worksheets (two levels of difficulty), for a total of 8 worksheets. Each variation has an answer sheet. Variation 1: code involving a single turn. Variation 2: code involving a single turn, with an extra block (which will not be needed) to challenge students’ thinking. Variation 3: code involving two turns Variation 4: code involving two turns, with an extra block (which will not be needed) to challenge students’ thinking. The challenges with this activity are working with an anticlockwise and clockwise turns deciding which block is superfluous and not needed to complete the code This is a great way to get all my Halloween themed coding activities to date in one purchase! If you would like to check out each variation as a resource on its own please click on the links below. Variation 1: Halloween Coding for Juniors – Using Scratch Jr Variation 2: Halloween Coding for Juniors -Using Scratch Jr, 1 extra block Variation 3: Halloween Coding for Juniors – Using Scratch Jr, making turns Variation 4: Halloween Coding -Using Scratch Jr, making turns, 1 extra block

This Halloween themed resource gives an opportunity to expose junior students to the world of coding using the user friendly coding app Scratch Jr. Coding is an essential skill in the digital curriculum for 21st Century learners. Coding is the ability to create instructions that allow a set of actions to be carried out. The resource doesn’t require a device or access to the internet. Students can cut and past the missing pieces of code into a command to achieve the desired outcome on the worksheet. The focus of this activity is being able to work out the correct right hand turn at the correct point. The extra challenge with this activity is that there is an extra superfluous block. The students need to decide which block is not needed to complete the code. The resource has 2 activity sheets (2 levels of difficulty with the same task), answer sheet and teacher notes.

Debugging is an essential skill in the digital curriculum for 21st Century learners. Debugging is the ability to identify where instructions have gone wrong and correct them - problem solving for the 21st Century learner! This resource has 3 problem cards of basic Scratch code, each containing one error for students to ‘debug’ and fix so that the code performs the correct task. These do not require a device or the internet to solve, but going online to check if the solution works is advantageous. The resource has 3 problem cards and solutions.
