An authentic news article on the right age for children to have a Smartphone. Pupils read the article and then complete a crossword to test their vocabulary understanding. The solution to the crossword is provided. This is useful to show how essays arguing for or against a topic are set out. This would lead onto speaking or writing work whereby pupils provided their own opinion on the topic of Smartphone access and children. Teacher PPT to introduce the key question … wo warst du in den Sommerferien? Pupils learn how to say where they were and are introduced to countries with the imperfect tense e.g “Ich war in Amerika”. Pupils describe their experience in the past using positive and negative descriptions. Pupils also recall weather and different verb forms in the imperfect tense.
