Media Class English- Adventure Time Lesson 4
This resource can be used for ESL or mainstream English Language learners. Students watch a short clip of the popular show ‘Adventure Time’ and then answer the set of comprehension, multiple choice or dictation tasks that are provided on the worksheet.
This resource has really helped me to improve my students overall command of English vernacular and idiomatic phrases. It also provides many extended response opportunities both oral and written.
Finally, I use these tasks to also have open discussions about the problems and solutions the characters face, many of which are also problems applicable to the students watching the episode. :)

Grade 4 Wonders (McGraw-Hill) Reading Comprehension Unit 6 week 2
This is an extension activity to the unit 6 week 2 topic: ‘Untold Stories’.
The comprehension is titled: Freedom at Fort Mose
It covers the Historical Fiction genre.
The resource has ten questions relating to the text and one paragraph/reflection question.
Adaptations: Wonders grade 3/ week 3 unit 4
This unit is a companion to the Wonders grade 3 curriculum (unit 4 week 3), on animal and human adaptation.
It covers all of the vocabulary words and has an assignment question on either human or animal adaptation.

This engaging resource can be used either with the film or the novel by Kathryn Stockett.
The questions are focused on helping illicit ideas and prepare students for the actual watching/reading portion of their study. Like most of my other resources there is material for discussion and debate or even just individual critical thinking.
The resource addresses: slavery,Jim Crow,segregation,civil rights, women’s rights and the wealth gap.
There are also some key dates that teachers can build knowledge on as background information and context.
Students can explore the time period of the 60s and the pros and cons of living in that time period. Teachers can also use the tasks to discuss Jim Crow and the impact the laws had on community as a whole.

I have used this resource with my classes many times, and they loved the fact that there was a rubric for them to monitor their progress, as well as, a chance to select what they found difficulty with.
