During World War II, in 1940 there was just one pair of gannets on the rock, but with the Nazis on the island and the local people evacuated to the mainland, fishing declined and so the gannets flourished. It takes a fun look at the history of the business card, and why people, including explorers need a business card. How many oceans are there on planet Earth? There are five oceans in the world, from biggest to smallest they are: the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, the Indian Ocean, the Southern (Antarctic) Ocean, and the Arctic Ocean. The waters of the oceans mix together thanks to the movement of currents which create the World (global) ocean. About 71% of the planet’s surface is covered with our oceans. What is the difference between an ocean and a sea? An ocean is larger than the sea, and is not surrounded by land in the same way as a sea is, for example, the Baltic Sea or the Black Sea.
