5) Pressures on the Urban-Rural Fringe and the Use of Green Space uses videos to share ideas on differing views on building on Green-Belt. Pupils will read an article about the effects of urban sprawl, focussing on Altrincham and Trafford

A lesson which introduces different types of tourism and some key words for pupils. Pupils have to select one holiday maker from the options and design the best holiday to Brazil for them, choosing appropriate flights, accommodation and an itinerary. This lesson doesn't require any IT as information sheets are included in the pack, making it ideal for a pupil led, research lesson where IT facilities are not available for pupils. It's aimed at a year 8 class, but could be used for year 7s and year 9s as well. A differentiated version of the proposal sheet is included and also some stickers where pupils can peer assess each other's work in an engaging way.
A lesson that investigates plastic waste and the pollution of Henderson island. Links with current changes in governmental policy and very topical with blue planet highlighting this issue. Used with a year 7 class. The powerpoint includes a booklet for the pupils to fill in as you go through the lesson. Pupils will have to used clues to work out where the island is (map skills) and will have the opportunity to voice their own opinions on the emotive topic.
Powerpoint with resources included and a written lesson plan. This lesson works as an introduction to UK storms and extreme weather. Origninally designed for a high ability year 8 class, it could also be used to introduce extreme weather in the UK to GCSE classes for the AQA spec. This lesson is designed for Storm Doris, but is easily adaptable to a different case study if needed. Pupils will have to classify the effects of the storm and work to try and understand the causes from a card sort.
Set of 4 lessons for GCSE to explore urbanisation and urban issues in Lagos, Nigeria. Includes a workbook for pupils to follow and complete. Includes appropriate video links and all resources needed for lessons. Pupils will be using a range of teaching strategies including think, ink, pair, shares, exam questions, rewording of questions, reflection on specification, annotation of photographs, analysing of data and maps etc.
