Complete lesson with two alternative starter activities (depending on the ability of your class), a practical, lots of activities, videos, homework suggestion and an AfL task at the end. Extra information (including image credits) is included in the notes section under the slides. I am currently making a complete scheme of work for the new chemistry spec so please keep checking back. Very engaging lesson, includes game, practical, assessment and differentiated tasks. I was observed teaching this lesson for AQA C3 a couple of years ago and was graded outstanding. The lesson takes 2 hours so you can split it at a point that you feel appropriate (our school does 2 hour lessons as standard). All explanations for activities can be found in the notes underneath the slide, along with picture and video credits. I am working on a full SOW for the new AQA spec so check back soon. Please leave feedback. Complete chapter 4.1 can be found here for only £5: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/complete-sow-for-new-aqa-chemistry-syllabus-chapter-4-1-atomic-structure-and-the-periodic-table-11296756
Exam style calculations for module 2 of new OCR Chemistry A Level

Exam style calculations for module 2 of new OCR Chemistry A Level

(0)
Suitable for assessment for learning, an end of module test or for revision. After looking at the specimen and practice exam papers for the new OCR Specification, I noticed that the calculation questions have become more challenging than the old spec. I have written 18 questions and based them on a similar format to the new style of question (and included several ideal gas equation questions). I have included a markscheme which shows clearly how each answer is calculated, and suggested how many marks each question should be worth (the total number or marks for the questions is 126) but you can edit this as you see fit. I have checked the questions and answers several times (and tested them on my pupils) to make sure they are correct but if you notice any errors please let me know. Please also leave feedback if you find this resource helpful.
Revision questions for new OCR A Chemistry A-Level Modules 1-4

Revision questions for new OCR A Chemistry A-Level Modules 1-4

(3)
Questions covering all of the new specification. The questions summarise the entire content. Pupils can complete the questions for revision and use their textbooks to mark it. I wrote the questions using the content of the new Pearson's textbook and a couple of the calculation questions are from the book (pupils can look up their answers to these in the book). I have not proof read my work so apologies if there are typos! Please leave feedback if you use this resource.

This comprehensive resource contains five 1 hour lessons, animations to clearly explain electrolysis, work sheets, , experiment suggestions, questions, activities and revision resources. All of the answers are included so this would be suitable for a non-specialist. Please see notes at the bottom of powerpoint slides for extra information, links to other resources and image credits. I welcome feedback. Content covered includes: -What electrolysis is and why we do it (including a recap of ionic bonding) -Electrolysis of ionic compounds when melted and when in solution -How to work out what is produced at each electrode -Half equations -Oxidation and reduction -Electrolysis of aluminium oxide -Electrolysis of sodium chloride solution -Electroplating Created for AQA specification but could easily be adapted to other exam boards.
Bond Enthalpies for AQA GCSE Chemistry

Bond Enthalpies for AQA GCSE Chemistry

(0)
A clear and easy way for pupils to learn about bond enthalpies. Before teaching this lesson you need to have covered exothermic and endothermic reactions as well as calorimetry. The lesson includes a loop game starter to recap prior knowledge, explanation with animation, examples and questions for calculating bond enthalpies. Although created for GCSE, it would be a suitable introduction for AS students as well. You will need molymods and board pens. Calculators optional.

Proton NMR Game

Pictionoo (a mixture of pictionary and taboo!) Get the class into groups of 4. Within the group the pupils are in 2 teams. Print slides 2-5. All the other instructions are on the powerpoint. I made this years ago and can't remember where I got the NMR pictures from - if it is you, please let me know so I can credit you.

New OCR AS Organic Synthesis - 2 hours of teaching

(1)
A two hour lesson covering practical skills for organic synthesis and synthetic routes in organic synthesis. Diagrams, activities and questions included. Individual whiteboards for the pupils would be useful but if you don't have them, scrap paper would be fine. Designed for use with the new OCR AS level and compliments the Pearsons textbook. Check out my other organic resources.

AQA Triple Science game - "5 seconds to name..."

(0)
Really engaging game which makes a great lesson starter if you want to wake your class up and get their brains working! Based on the excellent game "5 Second Rule", this quick-fire game involves answering questions in 5 seconds or less. Questions are taken from all three sciences, simply remove those that are not relevant to your specification. In addition to the resources here, you will also need a counter for each pupil and a timer for each group.
Ionic Bonding - Complete lesson with activities

Ionic Bonding - Complete lesson with activities

(1)
An introductory lesson for ionic bonding. Includes animations to show how ions form and how to write ionic formulae. Lots of examples and practice questions for the class. A simple and effective way to introduce a difficult topic. Created for GCSE but I have used it as a starting point for teaching A Level as well because they forget everything they have learnt at GCSE!
