As a KS2 teacher for over 25 years I know how time-demanding it can be to source suitable teaching resources at short notice. During my career I have developed an enormous amount of my own teaching resources and am a firm believer that teacher-created resources should maintain a professional look and enrich the learning process. My aim is to provide high-quality teaching materials at affordable prices which will stimulate learners and positively enhance the learning environment.

Class Table Race
Classroom resource ideal for motivating pupils!
Tried and tested in the classroom, this resource will motivate your pupils to organise themselves quickly, enabling wasted time to be a thing of the past!
Directions for use
Laminate and fix together the 4 pages of the Table Race track (35 spaces) and display with the heading and chequered flag (at the finish line).
Assign each table/group of pupils a coloured car to ‘race’ towards the finish line throughout the week, in response to the teacher’s instructions.
At the end of the week the winning table/group then receives a reward (to be decided by the teacher) and the cars are reset to ‘start’ for the next week’s race.
This resource can be used in a number of ways. For example:
Award 2 ‘table race points’ to the table/group which tidies up the quickest and 1 point for the next quickest table/group, etc. - you will find that classroom equipment miraculously disappears, leaving tidy tables in a fraction of the usual time taken!
Award points for the tidiest pencil pots, etc.
Award points for reading silently during reading sessions
Award points for putting chairs up quietly at the end of the day
etc., etc.
Rewards given to the winning table/group each Friday could include a small inexpensive prize, team points, a privilege, etc.
The Table Race can be incorporated into your existing reward system easily.
You will be astonished at how well the Table Race can help to motivate the children, as well as bringing a fun element to mundane tasks such as tidying up!
Colourful, fully customisable classroom jobs display pack in MS Word format.
The pack comprises the following:
64 named job pockets
40 blank job pockets (to add your own jobs)
40 editable ‘pencils’ for children’s names
2 signs for display alongside
This has been a firm favourite in my own classroom for many years!
SEE PHOTO
Print & cut out your chosen job pockets & laminate for durability.
Type children’s names onto the ‘pencils’.
Stick the job pockets onto a large sheet of card (I used a large sheet of corrugated plastic from D&T supplies!) being sure to leave the top edge of each pocket unglued.
Slip a pencil (or 2) in each pocket.
Rotate the pencils as required so that children experience a variety of jobs.
