I made a whacky revision cartoon thingy about the motor effect and fleming’s left hand rule. Just for fun really. (the youtube version has narrative)

I needed a clean, scalable (vector)graphic of fleming’s left hand rule that I could freely use in my resources, so resorted to drawing my own. I thought I would share it. If anyone would like to use the editable SVG version or postscript or EPS etc, contact me.

A simple simulation of the experiment. Unzip the file. Open the folder. Double click on ‘spring stretch version 4.html’ and it opens in your browser. Add the masses by clicking the buttons, and watch the spring stretch. Use a ruler to measure the extension. (The anomaly on the graph at 3N is probably due to a draught of warm air expanding the spring as a door was opened). Enjoy! A preview is availableon my web site.
