This is an extract from chapter 3 of the novel 'Great Expectations' in which Pip has his second encounter with the convict Magwitch. The extract includes comprehensive annotations along with additional spaces so that students can include their own interpretation to aid deeper analysis. It is aimed at top set students in KS4, though could be used to push the more able to achieve a grade 9 response through the use of the analytical and evaluative vocabulary on the resource.
