This will be suitable for High ability students at KS3 and KS4 to develop higher level complex structures, reading skills, speaking skills and memory. This suits the topic of school and education and I have attached a list of suggested activities, all of them I have used myself and have led to some rather creative writing and spoken passages from my year 10.

This can be used either as a support grid in lessons. I have also cut out all the different tables, laminated them and from the verb pattern sheet. I then offer students options to choose which tense they need the most help with, then they get the card for the whole lesson, or part of of the lesson. Tried and tested !

This is to support students with tenses and recognising patterns. This can be used a a support sheet or you may decide to cut out the grids and laminate and ask student to choose the cards with the tenses they need the most help with. I will add another resource with the conditional, and even some simple phrases using the subjunctive to stretch the more able.

Designed and used this using listening strategies. The cards on one of the slides with the pictures of anilamls need to be cut up and laminated ( for keeping ) and given to students. This is to help them concentrate and focus on what is necessary to listen out for ... it normally works well at Key Stage 3 but I also used it early in y10 , you can make everything harder !

Can be used to develop confidence in reading and writing extended passages but can be used to support speaking , especially asking questions using the 'du' subject with 'st' ending. I normally aim at having all students to have memorised the main basic questions in German using correct pronunciation and verb endings very early on and this presentation has worked really well so far with my German beginners (Y7 ).

Contains all the topics studied in the Autumn Term ( Ma vie sociale d'ado ) with learning objectives, outcomes, suggested activities and suggestions for differentiation and homework.

This will be the first part of the lessons on the endings for the present form for regular and irregular verbs in French. This contains a power point to be used as a guide and lesson plan, a starter sheet : students can use it and fill it in either looking at the clues at the back or they may choose to ignore the clues. There are opportunities for assessment highlighted on the power point, using mini whiteboards and I have also highlighted opportunities for questioning on some slides. The text the students will use to re write using the they form is from a textbook ( Studio ) so I have not used it but it can be created. The attached text called mes copains will support students for a class reading activities and there are two grids on the power point to help questioning. I have now updated this mini pack by adding the full lesson plan with differentiation highlighted on it if you wanted to use it or integrate in your own SOLS.

Extended reading passage to support students identifying and using the construction with Il faut + infinitive. Translations activities and extensions provided to get familiar with IL FAUT in other tenses. The error correcting activities proved useful too.

To be able to master a regular verb using all the pronouns to prepare to write an extended description of use of social media. Can be used in class or as a learning homeowrk

This text is used as support for a running translation. The text can be studied in details either before or after the running translation. Sheet 2 has a series of sentences from the text. They are meant to be cut out and laminated and given to students who work in groups ( 4 works well ). They find the sentence, must bring it to the teacher, with all spellings and grammar correct. Any errors, the slip gets returned for students to think again, if correct, the students receive the next slip etc.. The first team to have translated the full set wins. Extension : ask students to extend on the phrases they translated. Good for spellings, grammar and memory

designed to be used with year 8 , this is to help prepare students to make a presentation on their favourite hobby/ sporting activity. The reading activity from Echo 2 is really great !

This is to help students recognising patterns and using the infinitive when using more than one verb in a sentence. Highlighted the patterns both in French and in English to support

Use this to get students to guess which vowels are missing. Can work in pairs in order to practise sounds/ spellings connections. Gradually remove the support by asking the students to hide the English

This is to help students with pronouncing and recognising various sounds , which they may find hard. Parts are highlighted to support students in recognising patterns. My year 8 enjoyed this, even year 10, dead simple, but works. Tried and tested !

The ideas for consolidation are on the very last slide. They contain tips on activities I have tried with all ages and ranges of abilities and some have a competitive elements. The first slides explain the pitfalls of the word order and try to pre-empt errors such as word order, questions that should not be asked and issues of little words that often get forgotten about as students become concerned with handling more complex language.

I have made up a full text and attached various activities to keep you and students going. I have also added teachers' notes for ideas of how to exploit the text.

You will find the script on the French site called 1 jour 1 actu. It contains short clip with key words in authentic French. It goes quite fast, hence all the resources attached to support students through the study of authentic resources and texts, particularly for the new GCSE MFL and A Level ( 2016 ).
