This PowerPoint leads the children through two extracts from classics (Lord of the Flies and Treasure Island) - there are questions linked to the texts (including vocabulary choices, inference, and summarising the text). Prompts then follow to allow children the chance to still work independently, with clues to the mark allocations. There then follows the mark scheme. This process is repeated for both extracts. There are also two ‘Going deeper’ questions.
I have used this with my children in class with great success.
Due to the complexity of the text, this can be used with older children.

This pack was aimed at Y5 during the summer holidays, however it could be adapted slightly for Y3-6. It consists of various activities including maths, spellings, descriptive writing and geography. It is meant to be fun to engage the children (e.g. wordsearch and time tables raps). Each task is awarded points (thus ensuring all children in the class can access it) which children accumulate during the pack to obtain broze, silver, gold or platinum award....you can decide whether you give any prizes in return.
This is a support mat for children to use when writing (or as a display poster) which will help the children develop the cohesiveness of their writing. It states down strategies to use, examples of each and then the impact this has on the reader. This is aimed at KS2/3 children
This resource includes 6 weeks planning for Guided Reading. For each week, it allows for a test per week (one lesson), working through the test (one lesson) and three days of whole class shared reading. This process follows the Mastery approach for whole class, using support for those who need it, with greater depth questions for those moving on.
It follows 2 weeks on newspapers (using First News) and 4 weeks using Kensuke's Kingdom. There is a presentation for each day, using Activinspire (this can be downloaded for free by simply searching on Google, if you do not have it). Each presentation begins with an extract and a 'general' question to discuss and answer. Followed by support questions and then greater depth thinking. I have used this with my Y6 and the progress by all has been remarkable.
