This resource incudes the 'activinspire' flipchart taking the children through the process of understanding negative numbers (including double negatives). It includes various questions based on the 3 areas of maths (fluency, reasoning and problem solving). It also includes the independent work - 3 challenges for differentiation. (2 questions on fluency, 2 reasoning and 2 problem solving)

This resource is aimed at meeting expected standards in Year 6. It includes lessons on: measuring length, measuring mass, reading scales, converting from miles to km and using the 3 areas of maths (fluency, reasoning and problem solving). Each lesson starts with 6 a day arithmetic questions, in line with the SATs tests. Each lesson is accompanied with an ACTIVINSPIRE flipchart, which leads the children through the skills needed. The worksheets are differentiated by 3 abilities where appropriate.

This is a 4 week unit of work for (contemporary) narratives using the novel Skellig. I have used it to challenge Y6, however is draws upon KS3 ideas, so can be adapted to suit purpose. It includes 4 weeks planning and resources to accompany most lessons. It also includes the 4 PowerPoints to support the 4 weeks. A knowledge organiser based on the novel ‘Varjak Paw’ by SF Said to support children in studying the novel at a deeper level. It includes key vocabulary, themes, quotes and challenging vocabulary covered in the book.

This assembly is based around the Oscars. Each child will win an award and give a speech. It includes a full script and PowerPoint to accompany it. There is also a voting form for the children in class (based on 28) to vote for their nominations - you may want to 'change some' to ensure all children win one award (e.g. best sportsman or funniest). For the PowerPoint, you will just need to add in the nominations photos and names. On the script names will need to be added. The children all get to see their nominations (approximately 3 each), when preparing, however they don't get to find out which award they have won until the assembly (all winning names should be placed in envelopes). I have written 'child 1' etc in the script, so this may need adapting to ensure the right children win appropriate awards, as ours did. The script also includes various famous people (children dressed up) giving the awards (eg the Queen). Our children loved this assembly - being nominated and giving speeches.

This resource was used during Guided Reading for Y6, using the novel 'Kensuke's Kingdom'. It focuses on the children using clues to try to determine where exactly Michael may be lost/located in an effort to find him. The clues include an SOS letter, letter from the school, coast guard reports and the ship's log. It also includes the PowerPoint.
