This booklet can be used for revision, homework or even interventions. It contains a Reading section (fiction, non-fiction and poetry) which total 50 marks. It then contains a GPS section on some of the trickier topics. Then an Arithmetic test (20 marks), in line with the SATs test. Finally some Reasoning questions relating to the trickier topics. I used this as homework, then went through it as interventions.

This PowerPoint leads the children through two extracts from classics (Lord of the Flies and Treasure Island) - there are questions linked to the texts (including vocabulary choices, inference, and summarising the text). Prompts then follow to allow children the chance to still work independently, with clues to the mark allocations. There then follows the mark scheme. This process is repeated for both extracts. There are also two ‘Going deeper’ questions. I have used this with my children in class with great success. Due to the complexity of the text, this can be used with older children.

This is the script for a Y6 Leavers Assembly based on two children travelling through different eras from the past to find out what schooling was like. It has comical value, and even travels into the future, where schools are now on Mars, due to the mistakes of a certain world leader ignoring Global Warming. My class loved this script, and is based on 30 children in my class. However because there are many more roles, each child had 2+ roles - therefore it can be suitable for 1 or 2 form entry. This resource includes all the ‘Activinspire charts’ and worksheets need to teach a week of ratio and proportion for Y6 (age related expectations). The work is differentiated by 3 ability groups and includes the 3 areas of maths: fluency, reasoning and problem solving. Each day starts with ‘6 a day’ arithmetic questions.

This includes the teacher led questions for 4 novels, which covers 3 weeks (based on the teacher reading to each group once a week). It will require the children to read certain chapters at home. It also includes some preparation questions and follow-up activities. The texts and questions are aimed at Upper KS2 or Lower KS3. The novels included: The Animals of Farthing Wood The Secret Garden Face The Fastest Boy in the World

Script for 'Britains Got Talent , where the school name is used instead. It can showcase talents by the whole class including singing, dancing, rapping etc. It uses comedy and embodies the true characters of the judges.

A reading questionnaire that as English Lead have used in my schools to assess the use and coverage of Reading for Pleasure in my school. It comes with an analysis (set to 30 per range, which just needs numbers to be inputted for Pie Charts to change). This was shared as an easy guide with SLT and for future provision to be set.

2 weeks of planning and resources for 6 lessons (other lessons were based on working through tests) for developing comprehension skills linked to Newspapers. Three weeks planning (and many covering resources) for persuasive writing which is based around a letter to the PM persuading them that the practice of ‘Lions bred for hunting’ in Africa should be banned. This was used in Y6, however can be adapted for Y5/7. The class had drama on a Wednesday, so each week covers 4 lessons.

This is a display to encourage children to ‘show’ the reader rather than ‘tell’ the reader information, especially descriptive writing related to detail, emotions etc. It includes lettering for the display and 3 examples for the children to use, with related images

This was created for a Year 6 class who were studying Skellig as their class novel. There is 4 weeks planning with resources for 3 lessons per week (the children completed practice tests on the other days). The extracts (all copyright to David Almond) and accompanied by an opening questions (3 marks), followed by 4 support questions, then a Greater depth set of questions. It also includes the accompanying Activinspire flipcharts for IWB (a freedown from Google)

This resource includes questions for the whole of the book ‘Once’ - I have used these questions in Guided and Shared Reading, homework and intervention groups. There are on average 6-12 questions per chapter (obviously some have more). Answers will vary based on the evidence a child provides, therefore this only includes questions.

This knowledge organiser is based on the poem ‘Dulce et Decorum Est’ by Wilfred Owen. It contains all key information, vocabulary and discussions needed for children to gain a deeper understanding of the themes related to this poem. Perfect for revision. I used this in Y6, but can be used in any older year.

A PowerPoint to use when delivering an INSET based on ensuring lessons are sequential in whole class shared reading KS2. It is based upon the content domains and ensures lessons following a sequence. There is an example of a week of lessons for Y6 based upon the 2019 SATs reading test.

This unit is based upon the novel Once by Morris Gleitzman and includes 3 weeks planning and resources to teach lessons. It was aimed at Y6 - however could be used with Y5 or Y7. The attached presentations are using Activinspire. The 'settings' lesson received an outstanding from an Ofsted Inspector. This novel is absolutely spectacular and captured the hearts of my children.

This resource is great to use as writing evidence for Teacher Assessments, using the History Topic 'Britain Since 1948'. It is cross curricular, however it will focus on the writing aspect. The lessons can be used for whole morning sessions, with links to videos and websites to gather evidence. There are 7 lessons, however longer can be spent if needed. It covers a range of genres including discussions, diaries, sports articles and newspapers. All resources are including, including the 'Activinspire' charts linked to each day.

This is a 2 week and 3 day unit of work (can be extended to 3 wks if needed) on WW1. It is aimed at Y6, however is suitable for KS3 due to poems used (Wilfred Owen). It includes 3 PowerPoints for each week, plus all resources needed for the lessons.

This includes 3 weeks planning on historical diaries and all resources, including Activinspire flipcharts for each lesson. It is based on the stunning novel 'Once' by Morris Gleitzman about WW2 and a child fleeing to find his parents. Many resources refer to My Secret War Diary, which is excellent for using extracts. This was aimed at my Y6 class, however can be used with Y5 or Y7+ if needed. The work produced by my class was stunning and the children fell in love with the novel.
