There are a variety of different sentence structures to help develop children’s writing. It starts with building a sentence using the colour and then going on to writing the sentence with the ‘little words’ added in. These can be used to help Key Stage 2 use colourful semantics in a way that will help develop their writing and create more detailed sentences independently. They could be used with a picture stimulus or the child’s own ideas.
A worksheet that allows children to create a sentence and change the verb to match different tenses. Colourful semtantics are included to reinforce the sentence structures as well as reminders that the verb must change with each different tense. There are also Widgit symbols to support with reading. I hope that it is useful for teachers!
I have created these to support children in Key Stage 2 when using colourful semantics. They are linked to the word classes and can be used to help develop grammar and build/expand on their sentences. They include an explanation of each part, which word class it links to and some examples. Please enjoy and any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
