Teacher of GCSE PE, A Level PE and BTEC Sport. I have been teaching PE for 9 years and regularly receive Outstanding lesson observations as part of performance management. Part of the reason for this are the differentiated and personalised resources that I use in my lessons.
This resource was used in my performance management lesson observation and enabled me to gain an Outstanding in every category.
The lesson objectives of the lesson were:
All pupils will understand their knowledge of hurdling technique and how they could make improvements to their hurdling technique.
Most pupils will be able to develop their techniques using specific drills.
Most pupils will be able to offer insightful evaluations into a partner’s technique.
Please leave feedback on this resource so I can make improvements where needed
This lesson is suitable to a range of abilities and the differentiation and independent nature of the lesson will allow for progress to be made by ALL pupils.
Below is a guide to how to structure the lesson. I printed out enough booklets and had the front two pages laminated in order to re use.
Task 1- Reinforce and develop hurdling technique knowledge- Highlight technical points of Perfect Model. Pupils complete task 1 of booklet to identify proper technique (resources differentiated and groups of pupils differentiated due to ability and behaviour).
Task 2- Peer evaluation- Watch partner run over 4 hurdles 3 times. Resources are differentiated so lower ability pupils have less components to evaluate. Important that pupils identify a specific area to work on (Lead leg, trail leg or other body action (for high ability))
Task 3- Following the peer evaluation sheets the groups will then decide which area to develop (lead leg, trail leg or other body action)
The group then use the drills pack to work on progressively more difficult drills to develop their area of technique. I find pupils get better at this task the more they use this style of teaching (persist with this, it will get better quickly!!)
Task 4- Watch partners technique again and look at the area identified for improve. Have they improved and why, is there anything they should now focus on?
This resource is excellent for pupils to revise from for Phed 3 A Level PE Psychology. Each resource has been created after training sessions with former chief examiner Mike Murray and can be used by pupils in a variety of ways to suit their learning and revision styles.
The resource contains around 40 slides (approx. 4 per topic) and took an estimated 20 hours of work to complete. This represents excellent value for money at 50p per topic! This will definitely improve your pupils grades and revision skills!!
This resource has been uploaded in separate folders and includes the following for each topic area for AQA A Level Psychology Unit (Phed 3):
- Completed Mind Map
- Partially completed mind map for pupils to fill in
- QR code with link to revision videos (their is a charge from Mypeexam if you wish to sign up to watch full videos- Personality videos are free and complete if you would like to try them)
- Past paper questions and mark schemes for each topic
If you purchase the product could you please leave feedback and a review so I can act upon if necessary.
Thanks
This is a comprehensive but small resource made possible by the use of QR codes to ensure that all of the content for the topic of attribution is covered. This can be used independently by pupils as a revision or homework task to introduce the topic or reinforce learning.
The document requires pupils to have a QR reader on their phone or tablet in order to access educational information and past paper mark schemes.
The document then allows pupils to work independently to find out information on the following areas of attribution:
1- Weiner's attribution theory
2- Self Serving bias
3- Learned helplessness
4- Attribution re-training
5- Homefield advantage
The document also includes another slide that can be used to support or extend/ reinforce the learning of pupils.
I am currently a visiting moderator for Edexcel and feel that this resource is essential for all teacher who wish to track pupils grades based on their estimated practical grades. This information will then allow you to easily identify what % each pupil needs to achieve in their summer exam in order to reach specific overall grades.
Please note that this is only an estimate as practical grades and grade boundaries are subject to change.
The excel document also allows you to track pupils homework on past paper questions.
This is also excellent for motivating students as it allows them to see how much they need to improve from mock exams/ past pares/ etc.
Hit rates based on pupils target grades can easily be identified as pupils overall grades for each topic are automatically generated.
I am relatively new to excel but this document took me approximately 5-6 hours of work, so will be a huge time saver for anyone who purchases this. PLEASE LEAVE A REVIEW if you purchase.
Below are the simple instructions to follow which may give a clearer picture of what the excel sheets can do for you:
Instructions
1. Copy and paste your own PE2MS results into the PE2MS tab. The main date you need is candidate number, gender, name, and practical total
2. This will then automatically add the to the pupils and figures to the Theory needs and HMK accumulation tabs
Theory needs' tab
3. You will then be able to see what your pupils need to achieve in the theory paper to attain for each grade
4. If you fill in a past paper grade into the column labelled 'theory %' you will then see their total grade which includes their practical scores
HMK accumulation' tab
5. If you wanted to track pupils past paper scores you could then use this tab over a series of different topics or past papers
6. If you want to see a running average of past papers that includes their practical grade, you will need to enter and auto sum in column AP and select the grades you want to average out.
The extended question from Summer 2013 asks, ''Sporting contests require the performer’s full commitment, both physically and psychologically. The performance of some individual’s can be hindered by over arousal.
Explain, using appropriate psychological theories, the possible causes of aggressive behaviour during sports contests and suggest strategies a coach could use to develop the assertive behaviour of a performer.''
This differentiated resource allows pupils to develop their ability to plan and structure their answers. Each slide shows how to structure your answer using 5 steps. Once pupils have used these sheets 2-3 times, i find their ability to gain higher marks on new extended questions is much improved!!!
PLEASE LEAVE A REVIEW IF YOU PURCHASE THIS RESOURCE. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Please note- these slides are to be used and taught however you feel is appropriate for your group. These slides allowed me to relate to past paper questions, pupils teaching each other, pupils using information to create revision resources. I would not recommend using this to talk through as that would not be the most engaging way of embedding the content/knowledge within the pupils
This is a planning template with scaffolding strategies used to help pupils plan and answer the extended question on arousal theories and somatic stress management techniques from summer 2012 paper. I use this resource alongside the homework booklet which is also uploaded on TES.
These plans assist students with structuring their answer in a clear step by step process. Each sheet is differentiated with varying levels of help (3 different sheets of support). I have include the Catastrophe theory into the planning document despite it not being on the mark scheme as this may be included in future arousal exam questions. The Catastrophe theory is not in the exam mark scheme as this would make gaining top band (level 4) points, apparently too easy.
These scaffolding sheets are used when I start teaching this topic area to give students an understanding of how to structure their answer and it reinforces the content nicely. The feedback from students using these is very positive. Once they have planned their answer, they then answer it in their homework booklet. IF YOU PURCHASE THIS ITEM, CAN YOU PLEASR REVIEW IT. THANKS.
