Introduce your students to Spanish culture! These booklets contain many things for which Spain is famous such as flamenco, bullfighting, running of the bulls, soccer, olives, castles, cathedrals, Iberian ham and Don Quixote. Students first cut, assemble and read the booklet that contains text and illustrations. They then create their own version using the text only template.
Each booklet contains 12 pages: the title page with 11 additional pages. This item also includes suggestions for using the booklets and an assembly instruction page.
The illustration version can be projected in class to present, review and practice pronunciation of the vocabulary words. The text only version can be projected onto the Smart Board and students can draw pictures on the Smart Board that correspond to the text.
The booklets are also helpful additions to interactive notebooks.

Students practice writing Spanish numbers, fruit vocabulary, and the verb hay with this activity. They respond to 7 cuántos/cuántas hay plus fruit vocabulary questions based on the number of clip art items shown. An example is: ¿Cuántos plátanos hay? Hay seis plátanos. They also write the Spanish translation for 6 fruit vocabulary words.

This high interest writing prompt provides enough vocabulary and phrases for beginners, and it works for more advanced students by adjusting the word requirement. It contains over 40 words and phrases to assist students with the writing task.

Students practice Spanish speaking countries and capitals in a fun way! This PowerPoint Jeopardy game contains all 20 official Spanish speaking countries, plus countries and territories where Spanish is still widely spoken, or where there has been significant Spanish influence in the past. They include Puerto Rico, Andorra, Guam, Philippines, and Gibraltar. The 5 categories are North America A, North America B, South America, South America and Africa, and Potpourri. Students click a number under one of the categories and a country will appear. The next click displays the capital city, the point value, and a house that can be clicked to return to the game board. The previously clicked questions are highlighted to show students that they have already been used. There are 2 randomly placed "Sorpresa" slides that double the points of the next conjugation, if answered correctly. This is a no prep activity that can be modified to suit your purposes in your classroom.
Also included are 2 slides that can be printed and given to students to complete while they are in the audience. Each contains a shell of the game board with the categories at the top and the point value in each cell. As participants choose their questions, the students in the audience can write the country and the corresponding capital city.
Instructions for the game are included.

Students practice irregular verb meanings and conjugations in a fun, interactive way with these games! There are two 32 square board games containing 15 different common Spanish irregular verbs. One board contains Spanish infinitives that students must translate to English, and the other contains Spanish infinitives that students must conjugate based on the subject pronouns provided. Students play in groups of 3 which include 2 players, and 1 moderator with the answer key. Students shake the die, move that number of spaces, say the answer, and see who reaches the end first.

Challenge your students to assemble this 4 x 4 square bilingual puzzle with common French and English sports words! This is great hands on activity for vocabulary building with sports words. The puzzle contains a few cognates, but most of the 26 words are not. Sample words included are: aviron, corrida, equitation, être pom-pom, lutte, natation, pelote basque, and blanche à neige.
Just photocopy enough for a class set (1 for every 2 students if working in pairs, or 1 per student if working alone), cut and fasten with a paper clip. Distribute to students and challenge them to reassemble the puzzles as quickly as possible. All words are listed alongside the puzzle in French and English. This list is helpful when students are assembling the puzzles, it can be used as a review list for partner or individual work, and it can also be used as a bookmark.

French Cognate Human Bingo Get to Know You Activity - Help beginning students get to know their classmates and build confidence about learning French with this fun ice-breaker cognate activity. They'll be reading, comprehending, and speaking French right from the start! Each student mingles with a bingo grid and must ask classmates if the grid facts apply to them. The grids contain sentences such as, "Je danse dans le studio." There will be words that students don't know, but all squares contain easily recognizable cognates that will help students navigate meaning. When a student replies yes that a fact applies, the name is written in the box. When a student fills the entire grid, he says, Bingo!" The download includes a follow-up written assignment. Students are to write what they think each sentence means and write the French cognate for 6 clip art images. This activity can also be used as a back to school refresher for continuing French students.
