I teach a mixed SLD/PMLD class in secondary school working below the national curriculum. I use a multi-sensory, personalised approach to teaching. My background is also in early years and I think most of my resources are suitable for both as I always plan practical, fun activities.

I use these to laminate and make into books for my secondary SEN class. The focus is initial sounds. I make the books using the letters of their names as these are the most important letters for them.

The book introduces Callum who has lost some items beginning with C. Through the book, the children need to identify the items beginning with C from a choice of four each time by reading the words and from the visuals -real photos and pictures. I use this in a SEN school because the students take a lot more time learning each letter sound. This book was made for a student whose name begins with C to really focus on the initial sound in his name by seeing it lots, looking at pictures of things beginning with C and of course hearing it lots through the story.
Photographs of different habtats for fish or birds. I used this as a whole class lesson starter. The students held up a picture of a fish or bird to show me what they thought lived in the habitat. Very fun for SEND or EYFS!
Holiday/beach/seaside sensory poem on 16 bright, colourful slides. I wrote this poem myself, ensuring I used rhyme, metaphors and similies, that can be pointed out to the students and used to start their independent work on poetry. I used this in both a mainstream school with year ones and in my complex needs class at a secondary special school. Within special, I used it with accompanying sensory stimuli. The poem guides you through what sensory things you need and I have incorporated all the senses. This lasted me half a term in both mainstream and special -loads you can do with it. Plus I even did a sensory assembly with it, which all the students loved.
'Good to be me' assembly power point. I made this for an assembly at a special needs secondary school, so is either suitable for SEN or primary. It touches on feeling different and names people may get called, referencing popular celebrities who were called one thing but are now called something very different, also includes quotes and a poem. Would also work well for anything to do with bullying.
