See other topics and American West Bundles.
GCSE American West is often divided into three topic areas. Word searches for topic 3 cover:
Key topic 3.1 Changes in farming, the cattle industry and settlement
Key topic 3.2 Conflict and tension
Key topic 3.3 The Plains Indians: the destruction of their way of life
These are 1-page word searches with space for definitions and additional space to have students write out the keywords three times to improve spelling. There are also 2 to page versions which also have a small space below for a single definition and single three-times write up.
These are useful starters and the 1-page versions are appropriate for an extended activity or homework.
This is a single lesson for top ability but with the use of the movie and discussion, this could be a two part lesson on how to analyse an unseen extract in preparation for your exam.

This unit is entitled Violent Earth. It covers natural disasters and how they occur and the impact they have. (Developed from QCDA model and G.A.) Adapted by Alan Stevenson. There are 1-5 lessons here. I have planned for 4 lessons. The last two PPT were heavily adapted by myself to create more visuals in Lesson 3 and potential worksheets from them. I was observed in both Lesson 3 and 4 and received a good grade. PDFs cannot be edited but the PPTx and Docx Files can be edited.
Useful for History lessons for all ages and other lessons too.
FREE version available and TEMPLATE BUNDLE available.

Resources here for two lessons - Can be one if you have covered Roman Numerals already. Then you can focus on the Extended Tasks.
Lesson works as an introduction into Roman Numerals and evolves into how they permeate our lives. This then feeds into the extended tasks and sees how the legacy list connects to now.
Mind maps can be used in both lessons.
A simple worksheet that can be used in class or for a homework assignment. The idea is for the student to generate their own variants of the poster that would fit into a different historical event or time frame. Perhaps "Keep Calm and Ignore the Mongols!"
This means it can be used multiple times throughout the year as an assignment.
You can edit the Docx file to make it work for other subjects.
The PPT presentation is the main resource. The idea is for students to practice their timeline skills and how to extract relevant information from a textbook or PDF.
This lesson works best if you have a textbook that the students can use to gather important dates. If needed, you can you the PDFs with dates and important figures.
This is lesson 1 and the War of the Roses Timeline Lesson is lesson 2. Lesson 2 is free.
This is a good coda lesson after you have taught about the Abolitionists and the End of Slavery in Great Britain. It makes use of the song as evidence and frames the factors behind abolition in a different light.
I recommend having different versions of the song, so you can have them playing for students unfamiliar with the song. Home Free Vocal Band have a wonderful acapella version.
