A lesson breaking down some of the key terms involved in this topic and then looking at the way Islam and Muslims are portrayed by the media compared to other religions. The lesson then looks into different examples of Muslims working towards the common good and how a variety of different organisations in Australia help to create interfaith understanding and a cohesive society.

Massive End of Year/General Knowledge & Christmas quiz! Loads of different rounds!

This is a quiz initially designed for a mixed staff/ sixth form student quiz event but is easily usable for students from around year 9 upwards. I made a teacher baby photos round that teams filled in during the actual quiz too! This was made in 2015 so the first "current affairs" round would need to be added to! Rounds included are: Current affairs/recent news, Science & Technology, Movies, History, Geography, Music, Sport, Music- Audio/Intros round (suggested song clips for intros round), Literature, TV, "Our School" (have left the questions I used but deleted our answers for you to fill in your own!), Christmas, Christmas Number 1s, Christmas Food and Drink. Each round has 10 questions, all questions either worth 1 point each or two answers for 1/2 mark each. Each round also has a bonus answer, team which get closest to the answer also win a prize, enabling more teams to win and stop one team dominating!

AS Sociology SCLY1 Families & Households End of term/unit Key concept & YouTube song match quiz

This is a quiz I devised using You Tube clips of songs that I have linked to some of the key concepts I have studied during the Autumn term within SCLY1. I use this as my last lesson before Christmas holidays as it’s fun but still a revision style quiz for them. I give students the blank sheet with just the concepts on and then I would play the songs from the links on the teacher sheet (audio only), so freeze your board! Obviously don’t play them in the order they are currently in as this makes it too easy! You don’t have to play the whole song, just see how the class are going. The answers below aren’t hard and fast, students can argue that different songs go with other concepts so just use your professional judgement when going through the answers at the end! (My students enjoyed the variety of different songs below and I played some of the 80s videos at the end of the quiz as a fun end to the lesson too!)
