This resource contains supplemental materials that align with the Scott Foresman Second Grade Science textbook. It contains Vocabulary Crosswords that accompany that entire textbook for the entire year. We have developed these fun second grade crosswords puzzles to teach, re-teach, practice, or assess vocabulary in the second grade Scott Foresman Science Curriculum for units A, B, and C. Each puzzle contains vocabulary words for each chapter within the unit, as well as some additional words found in each chapter. There is also a word bank for each puzzle so you can copy it to the back of each puzzle if you wish. There are three crossword puzzles created for your students, as well as the answer keys for you. I have used these puzzles to challenge students, to enrich and engage learning, and as a center or centers with teacher or parent helpers to teach and provide practice for science vocabulary and definitions. This important vocabulary development skill is a critical piece of education to support and align with the Common Core Standards for Language Arts under the acquisition of academic vocabulary. Have your students “Create a Baby” based on specific dominant or recessive traits! The Create A Baby lab can be used during any unit on genetics, all that is needed are some pennies and colored pencils. Students will “create” or draw a baby based on traits acquired through chance. This lab is very flexible as it will work for any level student from English Learner - EL - to more advanced students. This product includes a complete lab, brief guidelines, an answer key and discussion questions. Lab objectives include: demonstrating that genes and traits are passed on from generation to generation, the concepts of dominance, genotype, phenotype, and incomplete dominance will be illustrated. This lab can cover 1-2 class periods depending on how you want to structure it and the level of your student. For differentiation simply modify the discussion questions to your needs. Animal Report Packet for Primary Grades
We have developed this report template and additional worksheets, organizers, tools and forms to use for your students to create, develop, write, edit, illustrate, present, and assess their animal report. This template can be for their formal report or utilized as a study guide to develop their report for them to type or write on their own. This packet contains the following:
• Template includes: Topic, Introduction, Description, Habitat/ Special Characteristics, Life Cycles, Eating Habits, Predators/Prey, How Animal Protects Itself, Communication, Closely Related Relatives, Interesting and Unusual Facts, Would it make a good pet, and Conclusion. We have provided additional lined sheets to add additional information; copy as many as needed.
• Templates for pictures, Maps, and Illustrations.
• A page to help your students find information for their report.

This complete lesson bundle contains everything needed to teach and assess the myth of Pandora. It is Common Core aligned and created to facilitate “Depth of Knowledge” (DOK) for your students. The myth is originally written and is aligned to be used as a CLOSE Reading activity (not familiar with CLOSE reading? This lab will cover 15 anatomical structures in the heart as well as 20 other discussion questions.
