This is a full lesson based on an extract from Act 5, Scene 5 - Macbeth’s hubris and Lady Macbeth’s death. There is a ‘do now’ activity and a model what/how/why paragraph based the the extract. Useful for revision. I’ve used it recently and have told my Year 11s this is one of my predictions for the the real AQA English literature paper 1 exam this year.

Ideal for a cover lesson, homework or a creative writing lesson, this is a four task autobiography creative writing challenge. Students have four writing activities to complete about their lives: a newspaper article, a television series, a letter and a blog.

A full lesson based on Stave 2 of A Christmas Carol and the extract running from ‘They left the high-road, by a well-remembered lane…’ to ‘The Ghost smiled thoughtfully, and waved its hand: saying as it did so, “Let us see another Christmas!”’ The learning objective focuses on adding context to a student response. There is a do now quiz based on the text and an example paragraph analysing the text in response to this exam question: Starting with this extract, how does Dickens present loneliness and isolation in ‘A Christmas Carol’? The lesson follows the ‘I do/We do/You do’ structure. There is an exemplar paragraph analysing this section of the text, with a clear contextual comment. There is an extra activity at the end based on a spelling test of key words in the text. This lesson has been successfully used in GCSE English literature lessons for a number of years.

It’s an excellent resource for revision and has been used several times by myself.
