A Level Mitosis revision relay quiz. Team based quiz in which teams race to complete a series of questions correctly, whilst giving you the perfect opportunity to provide some verbal feedback! Instructions and markscheme included!
Copy up the pack and sort using different coloured paper for each team - they have to chack their answers are correct before they progress onto the next question, providing you an excellent opportunity for AfL.
Answers included
Includes data and plenty of maths

Reactions of metals, metal oxides, metal hydroxides and metal carbonates with acids. Students can practise identifying the salts, or which reactants are needed to form a particular salt. For each equation they have to produce a balanced equation. This activity has worked well with my higher ability groups as a piece of AfL. The answers are actually included within a PowerPoint presentation for you to project.
RAG Class Voting Quiz to use with Red/Amber/Green Cards
Relay Quiz - Print slides 1 – 4 single sided in a separate colour for each team. Slice and put in a pile and staple the stack so it is in numerical order. Teams have to come and collect the 1st question, take it back to their team to answer, then bring it to you (the teacher) to have it checked. If they are correct they can move on to the next question. If they are wrong, you may choose to give them some verbal feedback they can share with their team. Great AfL activity which my students LOVE!

A Level Teacher Presentation that walks through protein structure clearly, from amino acid structure, formation of the peptide bond, primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary structure, as well as globular and fibrous proteins. There is a student handout that includes CLOZE tasks they can complete during the presentation - I recommend printing out 4 slides per page in landscape.
Genetic Engineering Cut and Stick Activity
Students can sequence the process of making human insulin using genetically engineered bacteria. The sheet has a scaffoled space for them to stick their answers down and there are then follow-up questions on the second side.
Projectable answers are also included

GCSE AQA Biology 9-1 - Three Work sheets on Photosynthesis - The Required Practical, Limiting factors and Commercial Use.
These worksheets have been produced to address the new Biology Specification to examine limiting factors, inverse square law between distance and light intensity, and the commercial application of limiting factors - weighing up cost vs. improved yields. Suggested answers are also included for the two of the sheets
Photosynthesis Practical sheet and markscheme
Limiting Factors Sheet and markscheme
Commercial Application sheet and markscheme
Respiration cut and stick and markscheme (overview of aerobic and anaerobic (yeast and animals)

A comprehensive PowerPoint which takes students through the mutations that they need to know about for the AQA A-level spec (topic 3.8) - substitutions, Deletions, Additions, Inversions, Duplications, Translocations.
The Worksheet is 4 sided and assesses their understanding of these mutations and the effect on protein structure. The later questions become challenging for the more able.
Also included is a Markscheme to review the worksheet with students
A visual 13 slide presentation which runs through the Sanger sequencing method in a fully animated comprehensive manner. The starter slide explores nucleotide structure and dideoxynucleotides. The slides then move onto the reaction, gel electrophoresis, autoradiograph production, and some key points about the value of genome sequencing.
Cut and Stick activity and associated comprehension tasks, along with a projectable markscheme (PPT file).
The cut and stick covers both stages of meiosis and genetic recombination, and provides a nice 20-30 minute activity that has proven to be an effective AfL task with my own classes, which was well received.

Recall Quiz Bio Mols
A fun quiz of the year for AS Biology (AQA) - it is likely to overlap with other exam board specifications, but I cannot vouch for this! It contains nearly 90 Questions and it easily lasts an hour.
Covers a range of topics, particularly from Biological molecules and cells topics, and has some more serious sections - identifying molecules/ proteins, and some less biology related rounds - flags / womens world cup badges.
I have created a 1% club round based on the style of questions in the TV series, which my students have loved (those that watch actual telly and not Netflix at least!)
I run it as a pub-style quiz. Groups of 2-4 students, and they mark each others after a round
All answers are provided
*one round (6Questions) is based on the 2023 Women’s world cup - this could be updated to 2024 Men’s world cup badges… or beyond!
A three sided worksheet and answers.
Tackles questions to do with uncertainties within measurements.
Has questions to do with single measurements, dual measurements, multiplying uncertainties and powers - links to the AQA Biology specification and the Practical handbook.
