This What the Health Documentary Movie Guide | Questions | Worksheet (2017) challenges students to think about what they put into their bodies each day and consequences of their decisions. Explore the relationships between heart disease and predispositions, processed meats, and dairy. Ask students to think critically about food corporations, USDA and the medical strategy of treating symptoms. This resource consists of 11 high-level, short answer reflection and essay questions that will do more than just ask your students to regurgitate information. This product .zip file includes: A student movie guide, PDF print version (4 pages) A student movie guide, PDF digital fillable form version (4 pages) *An answer key is included with this movie guide, however many answers will vary as students are encouraged to construct their own meaning from the characters’ dialogue and behavior. See the preview for samples. *A Google Forms & Google Slides version of the movie guide *CCSS alignment indicating standards met, PDF (1 page - see also preview image) **CCSS Note: I’ve taken the liberty of aligning certain reading standards with the act of consuming content via the movie instead. Explore the devastating effects that a high sugar diet has on human beings and follow journey consumed sugar takes on its way to becoming fat. Ask students to connect everything they have learned into a rationale argument to help give advice about how to lose weight. Finally, ask students to think like a legislator and brainstorm new rules/laws that could help reduce sugar intake. (Streaming Note: Currently the full version can be found YouTube.) This Food Matters Movie Guide consists of 11 high-level, short answer and essay questions that will do more than just ask your students to regurgitate information. Challenge students to critically think about the health ideas presented in the film and grapple with the idea that the pharmaceutical industry may not have your health as their number priority. This product .zip file includes: A student movie guide, PDF print version (4 pages) A student movie guide, PDF digital fillable form version (4 pages) -It is intended for a paperless classroom if your students each have a tablet/iPad. Is this movie guide worth it? Many answers will not fit into a ‘box’. Students are encouraged to construct their own meaning from the characters’ dialogue and behavior. Here are my tips for using this movie guide in your classroom: -Print one, double-sided movie guide for each student -Preview each question on the movie guide as you come to it before resuming the movie -Pause at the times designated on the movie guide and help students if necessary -Discussion here is great, encourage and allow students to share their ideas and thoughts for any question -If needed, and if time allows, feel free to rewind and show important parts of the movie for additional analysis -After completing the short answers on the movie guide, allow about 10 minutes for each essay question at the end -On average, completing this movie guide will require about 45 minutes in addition to the length of the movie
