is a great way to get your students thinking about ‘the reflection’ that they see in the mirror. It is great for class parties or a substitute lesson plan. It is suitable for very young ages since it is rated G but will keep the attention of upper elementary students. This movie guide includes the the translated version of the original Chinese poem that the story Mulan is based on. In the last essay question, students are challenged to find similarities and differences between the poem and the movie.

Compare how kids are raised in the ‘civilization’ to how kids are raised today. Explore the concepts of pain, conditioning and promiscuity as virtue. Finally identify the effects of ‘soma’ on the civilization and possible replacements for ‘soma’ today.
Please take note that this is the 1998 TV version of the film. I’d strongly advise checking out the IMDb parental guide for Brave New World before viewing. Although this film is unrated, and was made for TV, it has various scenes depicting nudity and sexual behavior.

This Cesar Chavez Movie Guide (PG13 - 2014) Spanish | Español | Worker’s Rights | covers a gripping story about the struggle for farm workers’ rights in the 1960s. Explore Cesar’s relationship with his son Fernando. Ask students to put themselves in the shoes of main characters and relate to them using their own experiences. Discuss the power of boycotting and how Chavez used it. Finally, think like a director and debate how the use of real footage from the 1960’s affects the viewer.
