This workbook is designed for pupils to independently learn the key plot points of Jekyll and Hyde, with a summer holiday homework task in mind. Each chapter is covered in a single page, with a summary, a small extract from the original text, and some challenge questions for pupils to attempt. Really useful for bottom sets who would struggle with the whole original text. Could also be used as a revision resource for those who have already studied the novel.

Resources developed with the back-end of Year 11 in mind, to remind students of the key points for each question and act as a “walking talking” style chain of 4-5 lessons. I have also included a standalone lesson that introduces the concepts of focus and shift to students, which can be used as a fun way in to Question 3, using LEGO. The main PowerPoint also includes a lesson on writing creatively about deep sea creatures, using the Jaws extract as an exemplar.

These small, short Jekyll and Hyde extracts require pupils to fill in the gaps in order to help them memorise key quotes and events from the novel. There are eleven different tasks in total, taken from different key events in the novel. This task is perfect for a starter, or as quickfire revision to fill an empty 10 minutes in a lesson. They are also great, when completed, as the focus of some more in-depth annotation and analysis.

The seventh lesson in a scheme of work on Romeo and Juliet aimed at lower ability KS4 students. This lesson focuses on the differences in how Romeo and Juliet are treated by their parents at the start of the play. Can be linked to the "context" lesson (Lesson Two of this scheme) to consider families in the Elizabethan era. The video clips within this lesson can be embedded within the PowerPoint (filesize upload limits prevents me from doing this) for ease of use. The fifteenth lesson in a scheme of work on Romeo and Juliet aimed at lower ability KS4 students. This lesson follows on from the speaking and listening lesson previous (Lesson 14) and enables pupils to link their comments and analysis clearly to contextual points.
