Short ukulele piece with notation, tab, chord symbols and chord diagrams. Works well with any sized group of ukulele players.
Slightly longer and more difficult than my other uploads, but appropriate for a group that has already learned a more simple piece and therefore understands the concepts of tab (or notation) and chord diagrams.
Two pages of explanation and examples of augmented sixth, neapolitan sixth and diminished seventh chords, followed by 6 chord-identification exercises. The final page gives answers for the exercises. Useful for A-level students, especially those aiming for high grades, with a special interest in composition and/or considering music at university. Also required knowledge for ABRSM grade 8 music theory examinations.
Simple arrangement of the folk song 'Greensleeves' for two voices. Suitable for two-part choir or solo voices of any type (top part reaches F but could easily be transposed).
Print double sided and fold in centre for an A5 booklet. Inner pages contain keyword fill-the-gap exercise and information about the history and structure of a 12-bar-blues. Back cover contains listening-list of pieces in a variety of styles that use a 12-bar-blues structure.
May be used as a start-of-topic activity, revision task or simple and easy-to-administer homework.

A worksheet with an explanation of false harmonics and how they are notated, followed by three short exercises to practise application of theory / check students' understanding. Covers harmonics played a 4th, 5th or 8ve above stopped note.
Second page shows correct answers for exercises.
Useful to A-level or other advanced music theory students (e.g. grade 8 theory entrants) and to advanced string players.
An advanced, extensive card sort for names of orchestral instruments in four languages (English, Italian, German and French) and their common abbreviations used in scores.
Instructions:
- Print all pages
- Cut out (or have students cut out) all of the instrument names on pages 1-4
- Provide students with pages 5-8, ask them to categorise each instrument.
- Either provide a time constraint to see how much they can do or set more than one team* against each other.
*Best completed either in groups or one-student-per-section, otherwise potentially too lengthy a task to hold students' attention.
This resource is also an easy way to assemble a personalised list of unknown terminology for students to work on memorising (from those cards which are 'left over' after completing the exercise). Great for use near the start of an A-level course or for advanced theory students (e.g. ABRSM grade 8).
A short (one A4 page) step-by-step 'how to' of completing question one in an ABRSM grade 8 theory examination paper. Includes a 'prior knowledge' list with a brief summary of figured bass rules.
A one-page starter worksheet that teaches some key terminology, both general and specific to string instrumental technique. Useful to students of KS4 music, KS5 music or other music theory examinations (ABRSM, trinity, etc.). Second page gives answers. Best used with accompanying video resource (download or watch on YouTube via link below).
