This unit provides a comprehensive guide on crafting compelling diary entries. Students will learn the key elements of personal writing, including expressing emotions, reflecting on experiences, and using vivid language. In Week 2 of The Very Last Castle, students will deepen their understanding of the story by responding to key comprehension questions about character motives and emotions, sequencing the story’s events in chronological order, and exploring letter writing from Ibb’s perspective. Grammar learning will focus on subordinating conjunctions (because, although, when, while, if), with activities such as matching clauses, completing sentences, and creating their own. SEND learners will be supported with simplified worksheets, visual aids, sentence stems, and scaffolded tasks, while high achievers will be challenged to use additional conjunctions and extend their writing.
