Editor of the Times Educational Supplement Scotland Gillie Macdonald was named Business and Professional Magazine Editor of the Year, at the 2011 PPA Scottish Magazine Awards. Gillie saw off competition from The Scottish Farmer, Law Society publication The Journal and Holyrood magazine.

Furthermore, the TESS team was highly-commended in all of the remaining categories in which they were shortlisted: Business and Professional Magazine, Best Magazine Cover and Business and Professional Magazine FeatureWriter. Reporters Henry Hepburn and Douglas Blane were just pipped at the post for Best Feature Writer. Gillie’s win follows on from the re-launch of the TESS in February 2011, when the title was transformed from a newspaper to a full-colour Scottish news magazine.
