Individual daily lesson plan template

This is my daily planning template that I use to show an in-depth view of each of my lessons. I use it for Early Years planning at the minute, but it could easily be adapted for the National Curriculum. For PGCE students, it clearly shows what the activity links to, the learning outcomes, how the activity can be differentiated, prior learning and the role of additional adults.

Outstanding Scheme of Work SOW template

I’ve received a lot of praise for my scheme of work in observations, it has evolved over the last 5 years and I’m now really happy with my standard lesson planning structure. All new lessons slot into this format (for all subjects). This example is for an intro lesson to Tectonics as AS.

Update December 2018 - just been observed, outstanding again - planning, recall, stretch, questioning, english and maths, AfL AoL E&D and British Values all included.
Update Oct 2019 - Learning Walk observation outstanding - lesson shows evidence of detailed planning and focus on individual learner progression.

Individual Recording and Planning Sheet

This sheet can be used as part of an IEP in science. It is suitable for mainstream and special needs at every level including gifted and talented. It lends itself to differential planning for specific pupils. I use it to inform support assistants and students about what is expected. They can then contribute ideas and comments in the relevant places. This is AFL formalized and can be a powerful tool for individualized teaching and learning. I suggest that you change the file extension from .doc to .dot to convert this into a template. Please provide feedback.

SEND Audit and Action Plan

If you’re unsure about the quality of SEND provision currently provided in your setting, a good starting point is a SEND Audit, followed up with a SEND action plan. This SEND Audit resource is broken down into categories, including SEN / SEND Code of Practice, Teaching and Learning and Meeting Individual Needs, so that you can assess the quality of the provision your setting provides. This resource is useful for a special educational needs and/or disabilities co-ordinator, as well as those line managing a SENDCo or for the senior leadership team to assess the quality of provision provided. This may also be a good tool to use with a SEND link governor or the wider governing body.

This fully editable word document audit and action plan can also be used alongside our SEND Self-Evaluation Form.

Our full Ofsted Inspection Preparation pack includes this and so much more. Objective Led Weekly Planning - EYFS

(2)

I have worked alongside an Early Years Consultant to create my own Objective Led Weekly Planning template for use in EYFS.

This is the planning system I use currently for a mixed Nursery and Reception class, but can also be used for pure Nursery or pure Reception.

My planning template focuses on three targets for each individual child in EYFS. The idea is then to facilitate these targets through the child’s interests in the provision. For example, if a child likes constructing things, but has a specific writing target, as a practitioner this target could be facilitated through encouraging the child to write about what model they’ve made and what it’s functions are. The challenge is then to facilitate this target three times per week for consolidation of learning.

The planning also highlights which children need extra support, as well as showing which children are capable of exceeding. It shows their current attainment, as well as showing their individual target in the specific area of learning. It also has boxes for enhancements made in the provision, a box for adult-directed tasks for the week and an evaluation of the week’s planning box.

I have used this template for nearly 18 months; yielding fantastic attainment for the children:

Last year’s Reception cohort achieved 100% GLD with 56% of children exceeding in at least one curriculum area. This year we achieved 100% GLD again, but with 100% of children exceeding in at least curriculum area! These results have been absolutely incredible!

This planning really does work! Give it a try and let me know what you think! Thank you!

CPD Plan, Cycle and Staff Survey

(0)

To determine the necessary areas for CPD in your school, it’s important to gather a variety of evidence and sources to precisely identify CPD requirements. One approach is to ask staff to complete a CPD Survey that evaluates their level of confidence in specific areas. Staff rate their confidence in a variety of areas and the results from this will feed into your CPD plan going forward. With a wide range of questions to ask staff on topics and themes, including behaviour management, assessment, feedback and marking, SEND, subject leadership, parent and carer communication, working with others, safeguarding, planning, pupil voice and more, utilise this to ask your staff team questions to truly help them improve their practice.

If you haven’t already, gather information regarding staff subject knowledge and confidence to support CPD planning, using the CPD survey template. Utilise this to provide ongoing support which is aligned to your curriculum offer and develops staff members. Consider how this CPD feeds into your wider school priorities and planning by using the CPD Plan and Cycle.

The CPD offered and provided to staff is a focus of Ofsted inspections. These two templates are fully editable work documents, so you can tailor them to suit the needs of your individual school or setting and evidence the work you have done to provide high-quality and appropriate CPD for your staff team.

Our full Ofsted Inspection Preparation pack includes this and so much more.
