Principles of Design in Art Display Posters

Help your students master visual and verbal language with these meticulously crafted classroom display posters. The posters focus on the nine principles of design in art and help deepen students’ understanding of good creative design.

These posters explore and point out the basic design properties of any artwork or artistic expression: BALANCE, CONTRAST, PROPORTION, EMPHASIS, MOVEMENT, PATTERN, RHYTHM, UNITY AND VARIETY. Each poster has a thoughtfully designed, colourful, eye-catching graphic and notes that teachers can use to explain how the principle can be used in designing.

Displaying these principles on your classroom wall will provide students with a visual reference for communicating aesthetics and meanings in Art and Design. It will help students understand and recognise these design principles. From this foundation, they can develop a better visual and verbal language for analysing, evaluating and creating artworks.
