This is a new and exciting role providing strategic direction and leadership for all admissions and marketing activities across the entire Foundation of this independent, co-educational day and boarding school for pupils from 3 to 18 years. To implement Marketing and Admissions strategies aligned with the School’s mission, vision and values.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
The following list covers the main elements of the Admissions and Marketing Manager:
Admissions
- Ensure school student enrolment is conducted strictly in accordance with the School recruitment policies and standards.
- Including UK Visa and Immigration requirements as set out by the BSA standards.
- Lead the admission team to fulfil tasks and adhere to high professional standards.
- Promote the school and enrol students through different channels.
- Coordinate school tours/visits, demo lessons and any other promotional activities.
- Liaise with parents on admission enquiries.
- Facilitate parent meeting with school staff - ensures an enquiry proforma is completed.
- Coordinate student application and placement testing for prospective students.
- Field all enquiries that are made to the Admissions Office. Maintain a complete and accurate record of parent/student details and a funnel of all prospective new student intake in the school management system.
- Maintain good relationships with key recruitment channels.
- Provide regular update and data analysis on admission status to the SLT.
- Develop and implement customer relationship plans to cultivate parents’ loyalty and maintain positive engagement.
Marketing
- To implement all strategies for advertising, social media, websites, PR to ensure a highly positive profile for Kirkham Grammar School.
- To identify new markets and undertake market research projects with pupils and parents.
- To ensure marketing is a school-wide activity related to all aspects of parental contact.
Brand and enrolment
- Develop and implement strategic admission plans designed to achieve school’s enrolment target. These plans must be based on solid market analysis and aligned with the marketing and promotion activities.
Event planning and management
- To lead and manage both internal and external marketing & admission events.
- To lead the marketing team in organising school events and provide onsite facilitation.
Media relations
- To handle and advise media requests and develop appropriate relationships and responses.
- To develop press/promotional material.
- To identify and, where appropriate, pitch media opportunities for the school.
- To develop and maintain a media database and forge relationships with key media stakeholders.
- To prepare and submit announcements regarding news and events concerning the school.
- Supervise the upload of online material.
Networking
- To visit early education centres and other strategic partners to market and promote school to the business community.
Budget
- To plan annual and termly budgets for both admissions and marketing.
- To monitor expenditure in relation to budget.
Other and ad-hoc duties
- As assigned. Travel maybe required upon request.

Person Specification
- Knowledge/experience of marketing and admissions
- Bachelor's degree would be advantageous
- ICT skills to advanced level (word processing in particular). Training will be given on specific software relating to the school's database and organisation.
- Strong understanding of social media and networking platforms
- Excellent leadership and organisation skills.
- Analytical and creative thinking
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Sales experience is essential.
- Outstanding time management and problem-solving skills, result-driven, strategic and attention to detail.
- Able to meet deadlines, pro-active, creative, dynamic and can handle work under pressure.
- Good communication, presentation, leadership, people and project management skills.
- Possess digital and social media skills.
- Desired experience of UK Boarding Schools and immigration regulation and compliance.
- Education is an ever-changing service and all staff are expected to participate constructively in school activities
- Efficient administration, with a strong interest in staff development
- Possess excellent organisation, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work accurately and independently to deadlines.
- Able to manage time, workload and people effectively, coupled with the ability to prioritise.
- Able to remain calm, cheerful and in control of a variety of situations, particularly when under pressure.
- Willingness to undertake further training.
- Integrity, confidentiality and sensitivity in keeping with the post.
Hours of Work:
- 37 Hours per week, some weekend and evening work may be required when covering events. Hours and days can be defined by workload and priority.

Kirkham Grammar School an independent, co-educational day and boarding school located in Preston, Lancashire. The school educates pupils from 3 to 18 years within the Junior, Infant and Pre-School, through to our Senior School and Sixth Form.
Founded in 1549, although its history can be traced back to the 13th century, work on the present site first began in 1909 and the front range of the school remains a Grade II listed building. In recent years, the school has prospered and enrolment has risen to a capacity of 900.
