“The expert in anything was once a beginner.” (Helen Hayes)

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, creative and committed individual to support our Performing Arts and Community Use teams at Thurston Community College.

The role will involve providing technical support for College events, Performing Arts exams, productions and Auditorium hires as well as supporting the everyday technical requirements of the Performing Arts Department.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills when dealing with both internal colleagues and external providers to ensure a welcoming and friendly approach in line with the college community ethos.

This is an exciting opportunity if you are looking to work in a busy environment which supports the education and wellbeing of young people and the college staff.

The working hours are open to negotiation at the time of interview but will require some flexibility around possible evening, weekend and holiday cover. There may be the opportunity for the successful applicant to discuss flexible term time holiday arrangements.

Thurston Community College is a large popular mixed comprehensive school (NOR 1492) with a successful sixth form. 2024 is an exciting time to join us as we have appointed a new Principal and the school had its Ofsted judgement confirmed as “Good”. We want all of our staff and students to be proud to work and study here and demonstrate our core values of PRIDE: progress, respect, integrity, determination and empathy.

There is an excellent programme of induction and support for newly appointed staff and you can be assured of a warm welcome from colleagues across the school. Thurston Community College enjoys a rural location just off the A14 and convenient road and rail links to Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich.

If you would like to discuss this post or to visit the school please contact us via email, recruitment@thurstoncollege.org or visit our website for further information.

If you are excited by this post, its challenges and opportunities; if you relish the prospect of joining our team of committed and excellent staff, we very much look forward to hearing from you.

Applications are reviewed upon receipt.

Completed application forms should be sent to recruitment@thurstoncollege.org
