Job overview

We are looking to recruit a Learning Support Assistant to join our committed team in supporting our students aged 14-19.

You will ensure that the students can integrate as fully as possible into the activities generally undertaken by their peers in the class and make progress. 

Duties will include running specific programmes and activities to assist the student’s individual learning and social needs in liaison with the class teachers and the iHub Coordinator. You will have high expectations and be dedicated to student progress, with a strong belief that understanding a student is key to motivating their learning. Work may be carried out in the classroom or outside the main teaching area. 

Managing behaviour is an integral part of this role which requires you to be self-assured with the ability to deal with sometimes challenging situations.

Hours: Fixed term, 12-month maternity cover, term time only. Full time hours but flexible for the right candidate.

UTC Oxfordshire is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form, serving students from the age of 14-19. Situated in Harwell near Didcot the UTC has a maximum capacity of 600 students. It is part of the Active Learning Education Trust and works with industry partners: BMW Mini, UK Atomic Energy Authority, Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), RM Education, Reaction Engines and Bloodhound SSC and Academic Partners: Oxford Brookes University,  Royal Holloway (University of London) and Reading University.

UTC Oxfordshire opened in 2015 and allows for students to specialise in either science or engineering.
