OCR A Level Classical Civilisation (World of the Hero paper)

Virgil’s Aeneid 20 Marker plans:

  • To what extent is his portrayal in this passage different from how he is shown elsewhere in the first half of the Aeneid?

  • ‘Jupiter is in complete control of the workings of fate in the Aeneid; mortals have absolutely no freedom to act as they wish.’

-‘In these opening scenes (Book 1) Virgil has portrayed a woman (Dido) whom there is every reason to admire.’

-Does all the help he receives from the gods make Aeneas more or less of a hero?

-Women are unstable creatures, always changing.
