This Free Sneak Peek episode covers the TedEd video “What is Depression” and is the first episode in the full 10 episode Intro to Mental Health Awareness Playlist YouTube Guide here.

Challenge students to analyze what depression is, including the difference between just feeling sad and having clinical depression. Discover the signs of depression, like feeling very sad for a long time, losing interest in fun activities, or having trouble sleeping and eating. Understand why it’s hard to figure out if someone has depression and how it can be treated with medicine, talking to a therapist, or sometimes other methods like electroconvulsive therapy. Think about how knowing more about depression can help you and others feel more supported and less alone.
