Slavery is not a part of the past. Slavery is around us in the present, but most people don’t even realise it. According to the International Labour Organisation, more than 40 million people around the world are victims of contemporary slavery, more than at any other time in history. (1)

This age-appropriate assembly aims to;
• Clarify what modern-day slavery is
• Raise awareness around the facts and statistics surrounding slavery
• Encourage students to think about how they might contribute to ending modern-day slavery

Comprising of a;
• 39-slide PowerPoint presentation
• Detailed script
• Music accompaniment
• Relevant prayer

This can be used as assembly and/or as an introduction to your Abolition of Slavery activities/project.
