La salud: Original health situations with present subjunctive

Marcos Padilla is a doctor who has been invited to a radio program in his city. Patients can call him and seek advice for their health-related issues. Complete each mini conversation using the following guidelines:

1. For each patient, create a health situation using column A. All verbs must be conjugated in the yo form present tense. You can also come up with your own situations.

2. Conjugate the introductory verb from column B in the present tense.

3. Use the appropriate recommendation from column C in response to the patient’s health issue. The verb must be conjugated in the present subjunctive. You can also come up with your own recommendation.

*Students will create and answer 10 health situations for 10 different people.

Example:

Column A: Querer perder (e-ie) peso

Column B: Querer, Suplicar, Decir etc

Column C: Hacer ejercicio en casa o en el gimnasio / Tomar un antibiótico

Juan: (Situation) __________________________________________

MP: Yo ______________ que tú __________________________________________

Answer:

Juan: Yo quiero perder peso.

MP: Yo digo que tú hagas ejercicio en casa o en el gimnasio.

Answer key is included on pages 3-4. Student answers will vary.

This practice can be used with chapter 3A and 3B of Realidades 3.

Students can also do this practice orally in pairs or small groups.
