Rich tasks encourage learners to think creatively, work logically, communicate their ideas, analyze results or strategies, and make connections. Incorporating rich tasks into your math class room can help build a community of inquiry, collaboration, and imagination!

Task: Students are tasked with planning a trip for a celebrity’s trip and earn the most money for charities. Given a map and some information about the trip, they must take into account both distance and time, plan creatively, and communicate their thinking.

This task is well-suited for group work on non-permanent surfaces.
