This collection of songs was original intended to be aimed at pupils with Special Educational Needs but could easily be used for Early Years students or primary classes as well.
There are 7 songs in total (lasting 25 mins) which consist of the following activities:
1. Welcome to Physical Skills (1:37)
This is an introduction song for students and staff to get themselves ready for the activities. Suggestion here you could just get students to wave their hands around in the air.
2. Warm-Up Song (2:15)
This song requires students to perform the following actions:
- Stretch arms in the air
- Play hands on the floor
- Stretch arms out wide
- Roll shoulders around
- Wiggle fingers
3. Look Around (2:24)
This song requires students to perform the following actions:
- Move head to the left and right
- Move head up and down
4. Where’s It Gone? (5:46)
This song relates to object permanence. The teacher will hide and object or favourite toy of the student, and then on cue from the music the student has to go and find what has been hidden. This is repeated 8 times within the track for 8 different students.
5. Independent Work (9:36)
This is a nice long track for students to go off with TA’s or classroom support to work on specific individual skills such as balancing, tip-toeing, more stretching or general physical work that the students need to work on. This could also be a relaxation section if needed.
6. Bounce and Jump (1:45)
This song has 2 sections, the first one is for students to bob, or bounce lightly up and down. The section section requires the student to jump as high as they can. Although this is a short song it could always be played more than once should the students really enjoy it.
7. Goodbye to Physical Skills (1:37)
This song is the same as the first song, but saying goodbye. Again this could be a chance to wave hands around, or just simply to help pack equipment away or get ready to move onto the next activity.
