French perfect tense revision quiz

(2)
Pupils had covered perfect tense during module on hobbies/leisure in the previous term but had had a bit of a break from it. Used quiz to get them thinking about it again and prepare to apply it to the current topic. Could use to test how much they remember, or let them use their exercise books (opportunity for them to evaluate how good their note-taking is and if their books will help them revise).

Dictionary skills, verb tables and conjugation

(6)
Lesson aimed at developing dictionary skills prior to writing Controlled Assessment. The aim is for pupils to know what type of words they are looking up, and to be able to use verb tables correctly to avoid handing in work peppered with infinitives. All examples are the Oxford School French Dictionary as this is what our pupils use in exams. The conjugation game on the last slide was sent to me by a colleague who found it on TES - you may need to search for it to get a clearer copy than my screeshot.

Print p.1 on plain paper and give a sheet to each group to highlight key words, etc. Print p.2 on different colours of card and cut into strips (each question on a different strip). Give each group Q1 - when they have written their answer on the strip of card, they bring it to you and you give them Q2. It's a race to finish first (or get the most questions answered within the time limit). My pupils loved this and asked if we could do it again soon.
