nice, quick activity that can be done as a starter, plenary or simply as an initial activity to gauge our students knowledge of Spanish.
There are around 15-17 different combinations on each panel (left contains the subjects of the sentences and right the rest of the sentence), which by clicking twice on each will get you a random subject and second half of the sentence, i.e. “mis padres tiene ventanas” and students have to discuss whether the sentence generated makes sense and why, and how it can be changed in such a way it could make sense, if we want to generate some further thinking afterwards.
4 activities to work on the topic of family relationships for GCSE level (or above; easily adaptable):
directed mosaic writing
creative mosaic writing (students build their own sentences from prompts given)
sentence spiders to practise writing - play with a 6-side die
sentence spiders to practise writing - play with an 8-side die
You get instructions at the bottom of each slide.
On my page you will find the same version for ESL if you want to use it in your English lessons.
a nice starter / plenary activity for children to put items into categories. As these have to be printed off and cut out, it offers a range of activities that could be done as a follow-up: sentence building, story writing, etc etc.
quick interactive activity we can give our students to do individually to consolidate the difference between the preterite and the imperfect tenses in Spanish.
The reason for this activity to be done individually is because it has explanations (formation, uses…) on the slides that students can click on if they’re stuck. See preview for options.
quick interactive activity we can give our students to do individually to consolidate the difference between the indicative and subjunctive, perfect to do after teaching the present subjunctive for the first time.

Vocab to practise module 5 in stimmt 1 textbook: in der stadt in a fun way.
This card game includes 18 items of vocabulary and consists of 36 cards that include a place in town image and its name below. But careful! Some are labelled wrong - Students must grab one card and name the place they see before putting it down on a pile in the centre.
If the place is labelled wrong and they read it without correcting it, they will have to get all cards from the pile. The winner is the person who runs out of cards.
Perfect to review places in town vocabulary and key sounds pronunciation in class.
A translation maze inspired on the language from pages 104 and 105 on the Viva 2 textbook, topic ‘que tipo de casa prefieres?’ (module 5.1).
All instructions are on the resource, and should be displayed and explained to students before starting to play.
Aim: to find your way out of the maze by shading a path of correct answers. You get out when your path connects the entrance with the exit boxes.
If you don’t know this activity it has, in essence, the same principle as a bingo. It takes quite some time to run, as there are 18 different questions/rounds and children get very excited by shading the boxes and counting how many left they need to shade before they get out of the maze!
The teacher should then check the answers (all included) of any child claiming to have got out of the maze: note they should be perfect or close to perfect translations to be able to call a winner. If you were to get through the 18 rounds and no one has managed to get out of the maze (unlikely), go back to question 1 and get them to translate the opposite sentence until someone can win.
This activity tends to work wonders with any age group and is a nice alternative to bingo. It’s also easily editable - you might find the sentences I’ve used are too challenging for your class.
On my profile you can find the same activity for Viva 1 - module 4.4 como es tu casa o piso? with vocabulary related to pages 86-87.
One document includes questions from units 1 to 3 based on mira 2 express, and the other one (summer term assessment) includes a wider range of topics and roleplays to be prepared.
Mark-scheme also included to help you grade these on the spot.
A very basic ppt to help to teach Module 2.4 ¿Como es un dia tipico? from the Viva 3 Rojo textbook.
Check out the notes pane on each slide - often you will find instructions to tasks.
Ready to print dobble cards to create your own dobble game for your students for 1/10th of the price.
Print in colour, laminate and keep forever.
31 cards in each batch.
Photo treasure hunt I’ve created for year 9 students learning from home, to revisit basic language by finding different things, taking a photo of them (and uploading them into the document) and writing a short sentence describing them.
Inspired in the topics from Mira 1 - 3 textbooks. Meant to be done within 2 periods, but obviously this is flexible.
26 things to find in total
13 things to find - using easy/simple sentences.
13 things to find - using a bit more elaborate sentences (i.e. giving reasons, opinions…)
competitive reading activity called question trails to make reading more fun. This question trails exercise is based on AQA AS Spanish textbook page 34, text called “Hasta los 14 no deberian tener movil”.
Activity took 2 hours to create but it was well worth it - students worked in pairs and had fun trying to complete the activity first. Rewards can be given for extra motivation. As students will have to read the text carefully, the whole activity will easily take at least 30 minutes to carry out.
All instructions and handouts required inside of pack. Answers included too.
A different and fun way to get students reading for detail without complaining!

A competitive reading activity called question trails to make reading more fun. This question trails exercise is based on a text on Afroperuvian music (AQA AS Spanish - El patrimonio musical topic).
Activity took 2 hours to create but it was well worth it - students worked in pairs and had fun trying to complete the activity first.
Rewards can be given for extra motivation to the pair finishing first. As students will have to read the text carefully, the whole activity will easily take around 20-30 minutes to carry out, depending on ability.
All instructions and handouts required are inside of the pack. Answers included too. Could stretch the activity even further by having students write a summary on the text once the competition is over.
A different and fun way to get students reading for detail without complaining!
A complete lesson based on the Mira 3 textbook, unit 2.1 “Un dia en el insti”, containing a range of different activities to do with your class (30 slides), not only following the textbook, but offering a range of complimentary activities and extra vocabulary to stretch the most able. 4 vocab tests included
A very short lesson that’s been designed to introduce students to se puede + infinitive phrases so that they can make a presentation / leaflet-type project based on a Spanish speaking city of their own choice where they talk about what you can do in said place.
Lesson starts with a few examples of things you can do in 2 different places, then over to the students. Handouts with vocabulary and instructions are provided.
A different way of ending the year!
A worksheet on LGBT topic that I created based on the AQA A-level Spanish textbook, Unit 3 La Igualdad de los Sexos (3.3 los derechos de los gays y las personas transgenero) but which can be adapted to any textbook. It contains a video and a few follow-up activities, grammar gapfills, vocabulary activities and questions to talk about.
A 33 slide ppt presentation I created to teach 3A “Guten Appetit”,an introduction to food and drink in German, based on Zoom 1 Deutsch.
Please note I devised this lesson as a cover lesson, i.e. for students to work on independentl, but it can be perfectly used in a normal lesson as well with a bit of tweaking.
NOTE: look at the bottom of the slides (not in presentation mode), as sometimes I have added instructions on what to do in each activity.
A 30’ lesson I created (for an interview that got me the job) on healthy living for a Year 10 class, but that can easily be adapted to any other year group. Activities included: a lesson plan, a quick starter and plenary, a reading and a quiz-quiz trade that can be used as AfL.
