I’m a teacher, Head of department and English co-ordinator for whole school. I’ve taught in secondary schools and am currently teaching in a special needs school. I enjoy making resources and know they will greatly benefit lots of other students.

A scheme of work for Dickens ‘A Christmas Carol’ for GCSE or equivalent level students. These are lesson packets in the style of ‘Teach like a Champion’. Mix up the work with paired, group and individual work. All the stuff you need is on the sheets, just time the students and circulate so you can pick up any misconceptions. Get students to write these in pencil so they can correct mistakes as they go. These can also be used as revision.
These are what I use and I’ve had excellent results. Give yourself and the students a break from powerpoints. Keep up the great work.
Lesson packets to guide students through the class to prepare them for their GCSE. This scheme allows the teacher to work through the lesson and time the tasks for the students, mixing it up with paired work and individual work. These are based on the ideas in the ‘Teach like a Champion’ book and I only use these in my lessons now. They are so incredibly handy. Students can add these sheets to their folders and you can see exactly who has missed a lesson and what students have missed in the lesson. Keep circulating and keep helping. Give your students and yourself a break from powerpoints! You’re awesome and doing a great job.

A fun lesson on semi-colons, which includes a scientific progress report task. Appropriate for year 7 onwards. Could be used as an intervention or cover lesson.
Fun introductory lessons to Shakespeare and his language to help students through some of the points rarely broken down for them. Suitable for year 6 onwards.
An introduction to analysing unseen poetry for English literature. Included are the poems for analysis. I don’t claim to own the poems and they are not included for the price.
GCSE Macbeth unit – 15 complete lessons to follow the play up to Act 4
A scheme of work on Macbeth with over 15 challenging lessons. These are lesson packets in the style of ‘Teach like a Champion’. Most lessons have a recall quiz at the start which interleaves the learning throughout the unit. The lessons all have Exit Tickets too. There is a mix of discussion, reading, explaining, modelling, paired work, videos, images, etc.
These are great to print off and get going. They help students relax as they can see the lesson laid out in front of them. There is a wealth of research on this method and best of all it’s not death by powerpoint! This resource would be great for cover lessons too as well as homework/revision, however they are meant to used in class with a teacher leading the way.
