A collection of differentiated lessons planned in accordance to the new specification for Functional Skills level one and two. Each of these lessons have been tried and tested and have worked extremely well with my groups. The lessons look at building some of the key skills needed not only for functional skills but also foe GCSE English.
This is a fully differentiated lesson for the functional skills new reform. The lesson focuses on the activist Greta Thunberg and her speech to the UN. The lesson looks at some of the more advanced techniques used in speech writing. Additionally, the lesson looks at a transcript of the speech and allows the students to analyse this in-depth before going on to produce their own speech.
This lesson works well for both functional skills and GCSE English, is well planned and comes with all resources needed.
This is a fully differentiated, thirteen-slide lesson building skills for functional skills level one and two. The lesson uses the topic of Halloween to develop a deeper understanding of the new exam format. There are many opportunities for AFL and there are both reading and writing tasks to practice and build confidence within English.
