English Literature revision resource - could be used in a lesson, for intervention, at the end of term, as mock exam revision, as homework or for whatever purpose you want! Students design and create Christmas cards as if they are a character from An Inspector Calls, A Christmas Carol, Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Blood Brothers or Animal Farm. Different card design templates and activities are included for each text. Students use their cards to revise key quotes, key themes, characters, plot, setting, context and so on. It’s a really simple idea but could be very useful for exam revision before mocks or the real thing. We explore the key elements of an autobiography and evaluate how Wright uses these in an extract from his book. Focussing on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol and in particular Stave Two, this lesson looks at how Fan and Belle are presented to the reader and their effects on the character of Scrooge - both as a young man and as an old one. We will look carefully at the use of language used to describe Scrooge and Belle’s meeting and analyse what Scrooge would be thinking when Belle ‘releases’ him from his engagement. A great lesson for KS4 students preparing for English Literature exams and easily adaptable for younger years as well.
