The quizzes comprise of 15 questions for each of the 5 chapters of the book. That’s a total of 75 questions!
These quizzes are great to use in the following ways:
• To assess understanding of each chapter after reading
• To recap the events of each chapter prior to reading the next one
• To consolidate understanding of the ideas and vocabulary used in the novel
• As a fun way to end a unit studying The Iron Man
Each question comes with an image or images to match the vocabulary used in the question or possible answers.
The multiple choice questions cater for a range of ability levels found in a mixed ability class.
The quizzes can be administered in two ways:
• Each answer given immediately after the question has been asked
• The answers to all the questions in each round given after all the questions in that round have been asked
• The answers revealed after all questions in the quiz have been asked.
An answer sheet has been included for pupils to record their responses.
Teacher instructions are included on the presentation, as well as the answers to all of the questions.

Nine example character profile texts for the following popular LKS2 children’s book characters:
• The Iron Man from The Iron Man by Ted Hughes
• Stig from Stig of the Dump by Clive King
• Mrs Twit from The Twits by Roald Dahl
• The boy from Stone Age Boy by Satoshi Kitamura
• Tomas from The Boy Who Grew Dragons by Andy Shepherd
• The boy from The Boy at the Back of the Class by Onjali Q. Raúf
• The girl from Journey by Aaron Becker
• Hiccup from How to Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell

These exemplar character descriptions are perfect to use as WAGOLLs during World Book Day celebrations or during guided reading and literacy lessons.
The model character profiles come with feature identification worksheets for children to fill in, plus answer sheets that can be uploaded for remote learning or shared in class.
After identifying the features of the text, pupils can write their own character descriptions of characters from a book of choice using the Character Profile Templates (also included).
The language, grammar and punctuation features to be identified in the text include:
• Similes
• Metaphors
• Rule of three
• Onomatopoeia
• Alliteration
• Fronted adverbials followed by commas
• Synonyms to avoid repetition
• Expanded noun phrases
• Apostrophes for singular possession
• Apostrophes for plural possession

Four fun, engaging ogre-themed example texts that children will love to use.
The example WAGOLL texts included in the bundle are:
• a set of instructions: How to Catch an Ogre;
• a persuasive letter: Letter to an Ogre;
• a non-chronological report: All About Ogres;
• a recount: An Ogre Encounter.
All texts include a variety of language, grammar and punctuation features. A tailored feature identification worksheet is provided with each text so that children can find the writing features within the text. Answers to these activity sheets are also given.
The texts can be used as exemplars for the particular genre of writing, as part of a unit about mythical or legendary creatures or as fun, engaging stand-alone lessons!
