It's so effective because it makes students realise there is no scope for waffle and it encourages them to think about what a mark scheme would look like for each question. Alternatively, simple interactivity allows you to show the DIFFERENT points on the slide and your pupils have to determine which key concept is in the question. Something completely new! A fully interactive drag and drop activity for your students to show their knowledge and understanding of the frustration-aggression hypothesis. How does this work? You are purchasing access to an url address which will direct you and your students to this drag and drop activity. Simply copy the url address and email it to your students or make it available to them via your school VLE or learning platform (e.g. Moodle, FireFly, Showbie or Foldr). By pasting the url address in their browsers and hitting return students can access this drag and drop activity on any device; including PCs and laptops, mobile tablets and mobile phones. How to use this resource: Heard of 'desirable difficulties'? This is a great concept I came across in Peter Brown's excellent book 'Make It Stick: The Science of Successful Learning', where, as teachers, we need to create difficult scenarios in which students have to wrestle with content to grasp its meaning, rather than simply be told it. In essence, we need to get them to 'work it out' for themselves. By working hard to make meaning of new material students are much more inclined to remember and understand the concepts involved. And can then apply them correctly. In this case, the desirable difficulty is the challenge for students to successfully drag and drop each component of the hypothesis into the correct container. They have unlimited attempts and on pressing submit they will receive feedback as to whether they have been successful or not. It's a great way to introduce this hypothesis and as well as can being used on individual devices, it can be projected on your board and used as a whole class activity. Do your students find it hard to distinguish between similar concepts? Probably one of the best and most innovative teaching and learning resources around! This is an interactive multiple choice resource using PowerPoint which will really help you assess your students' learning. Not many other multiple choice resources offer so much. 1. Exam style questions are displayed - without initially showing any possible answer. This encourages students to think about what the correct answer might be, before the responses are shown. So you can also use this resource for short answer questions. 2. Students can then click on each of the numbers to make the corresponding response appear. 3. If a student is sure that a particular response is incorrect, they can click on the corresponding number again to make the response disappear - thus helping to develop good exam technique as eliminating incorrect responses is good exam practice. 4. Students then choose which answer is correct and click on the main text of the response to receive immediate feedback about their response. If they are correct, the response turns green, however, if the response is incorrect the response turns red AND feedback about that response is provided, thus helping students move forward with their learning.
