I am a primary teacher of 10 years with teaching experience in Scotland and England. I have PE lessons for primary 1-7/F2-Y6 and reading resources, mostly focussed around Year 3 and 4. With teaching for 7 years in Year 4, I have also uploaded some of my planning and resources which I thought may be useful to others.

Y4 Non-Chron. reports 3 week planning

3 week planning block consisting of 15 lessons taking the class through the steps of identifying features, researching and creating their own non-chronological reports. I have not included some of the resources as I do not own them but they can be found on Twinkl, the internet or you can use a resource related to a topic you are working on. I have also included the checklist and success criteria for this writing block.

Y3 Whole Class Reading The Iron Man

This bundle contains a six week block of whole class reading lessons for Year 3 on The Iron Man by Ted Hughes - I use this as my Spring term book. The pack consists of teacher planning, children’s booklet, assessment grids and smartboard presentations with the questions and answers for the modeling lesson (lesson 2 of each week). There are 3 lessons per week: the first lesson looks at independent reading time followed by taking turns reading to ensure children understand the passage and any vocabulary they come across the second lesson looks at children getting used to finding the answer within the text. Children are given the time to find the answer for the question on the whiteboard which is then modeled by the teacher on how this should be done and what a ‘good’ answer would look like. Separate smartboard presentations are also included for each of these lessons with the questions and answers displayed in them (the questions and answers can also be found in the teacher booklet). the third lesson of each week is the independent lesson when children will be given the time to read the appropriate passage and answer questions independently in their booklets. The teacher can then RAG rate their answers using the assessment grid which will allow them to work out in what type of questions children are good at and where they will need more practice (the type of questions are listed on the front page of the children booklets).
