Hello everyone and welcome to the third edition of the days of the week in French. This edition focuses on ‘mercredi’ (Wednesday in French). Introducing a day of the week one day at a time might be advantageous for students who find learning a foreign language difficult, especially when they become overburdened with learning all of the days of the week at once. This pack includes: Powerpoint of the story with questions and answers, followed by a quiz. First of all, introduce the word ‘mercredi’ and play games with the word such as the hot and cold game. Get the children to read the story and ask them questions after each picture and them ask them to complete the quiz. There are differentiated questions in the quiz. ‘Level B’ represents the easier level and ‘level A’ represents the higher level questions. A workbook Page 2 - The children can colour in the words and the flags of the different countries where ‘Wednesday’ is translated into the home languages Pages 3-5 - A duplication of the story where the children can read it at their own leisure or follow it while reading the story on the powerpoint Pages 6-8 - The children can colour in the pictures of the story at their own leisure Pages 9-10 - The children answer the questions on the story and they can explain in English why the statements are false Page 11 - The children copy out the word ‘mercredi’ on the light grey font Page 12 - The children find the word ‘lundi’, ‘mardi’ and ‘mercredi’ as many times as they can. The word ‘lundi’ appears 12 times, ‘mardi’ appears 11 times and ‘mercredi’ appears 13 times. Page 13 - The children write dates on the crossword according to the clues given (you can do this only if they know dates in French. You can just skip this section if they haven’t yet done numbers 1-31 and the months of the year) Pages 14-16 - Cut out the dates for the ‘missing Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays’ on the calendar for May 2025. They can cut out the dates for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday on page 16 and then stick them on the calendar on page 14. The subsequent days of the week will be appearing shortly and then a edition in which all the days of the week will be consolidated at once. Please do keep an eye out for these. Key Stage 3 French: Quel / Quelle / Quels / Quelles

Hello everyone and welcome! This powerpoint exclusively explores the four different ways of using the four different interrogative words for ‘which’ in French. The first activity revises the demonstrative adjectives which the students could do as a warm-up activity. Subsequently, the powerpoint introduces the four different ways to express ‘which’ in French. As each one is explored, display each poster in the classroom to illustrate each meaning and it is a very resourceful way to make use of the working walls in the classroom. Throughout the powerpoint, the students will be acquainted with the verb ‘acheter’ and its conjugation. The students can note its conjugation as they progress through the powerpoint. When the students begin the production stage of the lesson, they can complete the activity on page 59 of the slide. The activities are differentiated and the students can choose which level best suits them. The answers are provided on the subsequent slides of the powerpoint. This resource explicitly looks at the use of the term ‘venir de faire quelquechose’ (to have just done something). Get the students to read the cartoons on the slide and then each cartoon has a question about what is going on. Get them to decide which is/are the correct answer/s. Spot the difference activities are followed and the students orally state what has just happened in the second picture. These activities contain visual support in case the students aren’t sure how to something in particular in French. There are also reinforcement activities which the students can complete. This resource looks at general feelings using the expression ‘Ca va’. It also looks at the pronunciation of the cedilla. It would come in very useful when starting the new academic year and starting off using Tricolore 1. There are lots of differentiated activities, geared towards learners of all abilities. For the listening activities: Lower level worksheet: Say either one of the facial expressions and allow the student to choose the correct picture. Because of the students’ very young ages, it is recommended to gradually introduce the numbers to them session by session. This resource introduces the number 6 to them in French. Go through the powerpoint with them introducing the numbers to them and get them to say how many shapes there are on the slides. At the end, I have designed a song in the theme of London Bridge. You could try singing it to them in that particular melody. I did it with my class and even the students started to join in even though I was demonstrating it to them! There is a subsequent differentiated workbook for the students to colour in and complete with some French mathematics! You can assign whichever level workbook to the students depending on how comfortable they feel with that level or whether or not they are able. The level 2 workbook focuses on more complex questions and mathematical sums such as multiplications and divisions, whereas the level 1 workbook does not. There is also a wordsearch.
